Schilling, Principal Principal 's ,Message We,so often hear about the change in modern youth for the worse, due, we are told, to the lack of family unity, lack of discipline, and lack of fundamental training as well as the oversupply of movies, television, personal freedom and use of the automobile, that it is with almost a sense of relief we reread these words of that great educator, Socrates, written in the 5th Century B. C. The children now love luxury, they have bad man- ners, contempt for authority, they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They con- tradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers. Yes, these are the good old days we so often hear about.
