This is ii good experience as well as a tine way in which to earn money. The juniors sponsored a successful Kick-off Dance in the early part of the school year and crowned Sandy Mulhern as the Football Queen. One of the happiest events was the day when the class rings arrived. Excitement ran high and everyone was exceptionally pleased. Miller, Mr. Schaffer, and Mr. Kershaw, proved to be .1 very successful flower show. The theme, Festival of Flowers, was carried out most attractively. The entire class should be commended for the fine job it did in support of the Athletic Associations campaigns to aid the school. They have been working feverishly on a class constitution, which will prove beneficial to them. This would he an aid in keeping the class operating as one body. The representatives of each class assemble and work on problems of the school. This organization gives the student a taste of government. The members, by governing themselves, learn and develop independence. The remainder of the students are free to applaud, criticize, or complain to the Council as they wish, through their representatives. The JUNIOR- HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL carries on a similar program with junior High students participating. With the Senior High Council as a guiding light they perform their duties with interest and alacrity. One of their most important as- signments is to arrange for the visitation of sixth graders to the high school to acquaint them with their new home. One of the other major organizations of the school is the ATHLETIC ASSOCIA- TION. This is the hub of the athletic workings of the school. They sponsor movies, the magazine drive, games, and individual school pictures in order to build funds to support athletic groups. Their persistance in learning was certainly reflected in their beautiful contribution to the Christmas Musical. In the absence of their director during the week, the Chorus has elected officers to run the business end of the organization. A new type of concert, describing the school year, was put on this spring by the Chorus. It went over very well with the student body and the parents. On lfebruary 15. 1957. the Chorus took their annual trip to New York City. They xisited American Museum of Natural History, the United Nations Building and Radio City Musit Hall. lfath member eagerly looks forward to this reward for the years hard work. The Chorus sent two of its members to Distriet Chorus, Charlotte Ivins and james lfee. Also chosen this year for the Senior High Chorus in the Bucks County Music lfestival were julianna Adams, Lois Bellmeyer, joan Clayton, Alba lisposito, james lfee, Mary jane Gilbert, Harry Grace, Charlotte Ivins, Suzanne Leonhardt, janet Luff and Kathy Reed. The main group of these sections is the CONCERT or regular BAND. They perform at football and basketball games and many other school activities, displaying a determinaf tion for pc-rfcction. Leadmg them down the field we tan find the smart-looking and well-trained COLOR GUARD. These four young ladies march snappily, executing their steps with precision. We can also find those high stepping MA-IORIYTTIZS out in front, presenting their unique routines with style and rhythm. In rounding out the band program we mention the girls' orchestra. the dance band and the cadet band. The GIRLS' ORCHESTRA, being exactly what the name implies, plays for various school functions and are always listened to appreciatively. The DANCE BAND, too, presents an unbeatable talent. Their alternately hot and smooth music gives many enjoyable hours of listening and dancing to the students. The last band section is the CADET BAND, a new division this year. It was created for the beginners in music in order to give them a chance to play in a band. They need not have had any previous experience. The drill team. or COUNCIL ROCKFTTITS as they are called, wind up our musical talents. The chairman is delegated work by Miss Williams and in turn divides it among her committee. This club is extremely helpful to the faculty and office in doing typing and correcting work. Many helpful tasks for the entire school body are performed by J. Bullitis Creighton. E. Holzworth, and R. Lampi. F LIBRARY ASSISTANTS The Library takes on that new look when the members of this club get busy. The girls keep it up-to- theaminute by having the newest magazines and books on the shelves and by mending old and torn books. Miss Wfagner, their advisor, shows the girls how to sign books in and out for the students to bor- row them. The assistants are an infinite help in keeping the library running smoothly. K. Sponsored by Mr. Dass and Mr, Dutton they go on their merry way developing, printing, and col- oring pictures. Now that the Chess Club members have captured the rudiments and skills of chess playing under the supervision of Mr. Brown they are able to vie for the position of best Chess player of C.R. In learning how to play, the stu- dents naturally enjoy themselves more and take a greater interest in the game. The outcome of this tournament should certainly be an interesting one! This game proved to be a real slugfest and the final outcome was not assured until the last out. Council Rock then went on to beat Morrisville 7-2, and gave Delhaas, the champs, a real big scare by holding them to a 1-1 tie until the last inning when we lost 2-1. The future looks bright for Council Rock's baseball team because they lost only two through graduation and will have an experienced team this year. They won six out of their first seven games and it looked as if they would go on to win the thampionship, but they ran into more stiff opposition and lost their last two games. In the first game that they played, they bombed Neshaminy 20-7, with 8 home runs for our boys. Later in the season. the boys had to play without their catcher, Clayton Weasner, who broke his leg. Although the girls did not make championship, they practiced working together as a team, feeling the spirit of winning and losing the games they played. Pat Derry was captain and an excellent forward, High scorers for the varsity team were Edna Fleer and Pat Derry. Then in the eleventh grade, if they are still interested, they put these theories to work, and graduate from the course with a driver's license.
