CLASS OF '56 Our immediate successors as the leaders of the school started their Junior year with a bang by doing an excellent iob in the cafeteria. Having at least eight people working a day, this proved to be the main money-making activity of the year. Conrad, H. Hankins. The class, under the leadership of Mrs. Edith Caul, Mr. George Lindsay, Mr. John Rick, and Miss Ada Thut, had another booming success- The Bonfire Boogie -a record dance in the Richboro Fire Hall. It has been traditional in Council Rock to receive class rings in the Junior year. The Juniors this year received their rings before Christmas and were as thrilled with them as we all have been. The real highlight of the year, though, was the prom given in honor of the Seniors who greatly appreciated all of the earnest efforts which helped make it the lovely dance that it was. The last main activity given by the Juniors was the breakfast given to the Seniors before they left for their long-awaited trip to Washington, D. C. Best of everything to the Juniors during their best and final year at Council Rock from the Class of '55! President DAVID BOTTKE Vice President First row: C. Tomlinson, D. Swartley, C. Tomlinson, F. Among th e i r disappointments was the hay-ride which had to be canceled. It was tough sailing for them this year. The Class of '57 will be the first class to complete all three years of senior high school in the new building. The advisors were Miss Mary Williams, Mrs. Adrienne Wilda, Mr. William Kershaw, and Mr. Mor- rison Miller. One outstanding contribution to the school, of which the class has a right to be proud, was the donation of a young hem- lock tree, the first to be planted on the school property. l iran aj' 4 . f'f'f. 3 af 0 .1 'Z- X. N H I CAFETERIA DUTY . BAKE SALE FORWARD, UPWARD, ONWARDH As we look back on our Freshman Days, which seem like only last week, we realize how much we have accomplished during our high school years. Many a class we labored through, but many a good time we had, too. CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS Gd ,,.....--s-- The doors of antiquated Council Rock High School opened to sixty-eight mem- bers of the class of '55, who were attending Future Freshman Day on September 4, 1952. Our first social activity was a roller-skating party held at the Jamison Skating Rink. Many a tumble there was that night! Anoth- er remembered activity of the year was a talent show produced, directed, and pre- sented to and by members of our own class. CLASS HISTORY MEMORIES Class rings were ordered immediately as we embarked upon our Junior year. Plans for our combination square dance and hay- ride followed. The real highlight of the year was our Junior Prom held in Trenton. Then came the Senior Breakfast which we had laboriously prepared. As we ate our eggs and toast we realized that the best year of them alI was iust around the corner. Yes, with ioy for some and sadness for others we entered our final year in the newly-constructed high school building. JUNIOR PROM-COME ONE, COME ALL Sophomore Days saw our group sponsor a Halloween Dance with music by a terrific band. In April, Career Day, now an annual event, was sponsored by us. After much debating the class chose Forward, Upward, Onward as its motto, blue and yellow as its colors, and as its flower, the yellow rose. Money was raised for the class treasury by a bake sale held in both Newtown and Rich- boro. The sale was so successful that we held another one the following year. Settling of students in new surroundings, revision of its con- stitution, sponsorship of several activities, cooperative leading ofthe school, and count- less other items kept the group on its toes the whole year. Our Student Council sent delegates to National, State and Tri-County Conventions and itself was host school for the spring Tri-County Meeting. A great deal of credit for the success of this year's Council must be given to the student body since, as a whole, they are the reason for our school maintaining its high rank among the area's institutions of learning. Xt X CO-CAPTAINS Edna Fleer and Suzanne Leonhardt GIRLS' BASKETBALL For the umpteenth time this year Council Rock has added something new to its extracurri- cular schedule. The school now boasts a varsity basketball team for girls. Mrs, Scott, who has had long experience and grand results from previous basketball coaching, called together can- didates right atter the Christmas vacation. The response was stupendous. Over forty-tive girls attended the first try-out meeting and are now busy at regular practice sessions. Out of this host ot girls will be chosen an excellent squad ot T4 girls. The girls showed interest, mastered funda- mentals readily, and are good material. Practice time was limited due to closing of the gym. The maiority ot the squad is composed of Freshmen and Sophomores with a few Juniors who will be back next year to display their abilities. Since the girls are beginning from scratch and got such a late start, there was no attempt macle to play in league competition this year. vimsxg ax-r. 9 , ., .r ' w 5 V 1 cz?
