The lighting and scenic effects pifcturesque costumes and Well-trained cast and choru es made it one of the 1prett'es modt enjoyable high school productions in years. Tunes were catclhy and the dialogue witty. The operetta was not- able in that each person enacted his 'part convincingly and no lines were for- gotten. ' When an Amierican yatching party arrived on the little Norman island of Beaujolais .andlits youn en Larry and Tony, seemed to be mightly attractc' by the pretty french 1gir vonne and Susette 1picture1sque.ly dressed in honor of a piing fete day the American girl. Phillis and:'Bell1e began to scheme to how them. their folly. The duke of the i land' in honor of the visitors plan- ned an evcining garden party at his castle with the v1iew of devoting himself to the Widowed sister Aunt Sarah of the owner of the yacht Bender who having beenmarried once, had no taste for it again. The Cousntess Marie fiancee of fthe Duke ,began early after their first meeting to en1snare the gay Mr. Bender and his resistance really seemed futile. g Harkins the prim and very Engli ih valet of Mr. Bender found himself hel-pl1e1ss1 before the charms and flirtations of the countess' vivacious maid Fantine. o play a joke upon Larry and Tony at the masquerade party Phillis and Belle changed dres 'es with Yvonne and Susette W'hile Aunt Sarah was per- suaded to exchange with the Counte1ss. The men concerned fell into the trap and thus into difficult1ie1s'. In the meantime Harkins was having a painful not his but Mr. Bender s In the end Mr. Bender escaped the countess who decided in favor of being a d1u1chess' and Aunt Sarah was relieved of the Duke s attentions. which had been obnoxious to 'her. Larry and Tony after havinon raved all evening to the .su1p1po1 ed French girls about the moon s many attrac- tions, returned to devote themselves to their own girls. Harkins and Fantine evidently from their action 1 reached an agreement of 'ome sort but it was not di closed 1in public. Choru .e of Norman and American boys and girls' did some very pretty inging.
