Bradley Alexander. Vernon Gordon Ibm-uthy Amrix e, Ynl.era Berry CHEER LEADERS Four cheerleaders were elected the week before the first foot ball game with Alma. The morning of the Alma game, students met in the auditorium for cheer- ing and general pep. The pep band made its first appearance, speeches were made, and the cheering and noise were immense. To bat Alma became a great thing. Dunlap and White City played a game the fore part of the after- noon. and Council Grove defeated Alma the latter half before an immense ciciwd of the County Fair with a large loyal bunch of rooters. Pep metings before games reached high enthusiasm. Between halves of games, the rooters led lby the cheer-leaders and band used to snake dance and pow-wow in the center of the field. O f onto the field first. n oreign fields it became a lark to get Pep and enthusiasm reached their greatest degree at the Marion game. Five hundred students and town people went to Marion in color decorated cars and lite ll t k i l ' ra y oo the town. They reaally expected to beatMar1on and when they didnt, they agreed to beat Marion next year! Nobody in that crowd will ever forget that Marion was held sicorless the first half. A singable song was: Council Grove, Council Grove, We've the best football team in the land, Play football to beat the band, Hokum, pokum, sokum, chockum, Council Grove! And, the lusty Yea, team, fight 'em was a yell to rally to. Page Fifty-three
