Victor F. Baiz PRINCIPAL PRINCIPAL'5 MESSAGE A writer once wrote these lines, Youth is not a time of life-it is a state of mind. It is not a matter of red cheeks, red lips, and supple knees. It is a temper of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, it is a freshness of the deep springs of life. Youth means a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over a life of ease. This often exists in a man of 50 or more, than in a boy of 20. Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years, people grow old by de- serting their ideals. These lines are particularly significant to- day because in the rapidly changing world of today, in the struggles of human relation- ships, and in the chaos of national and in- ternational problems, we need more than ever to maintain worthwhile concepts and ideals. The dignity and respect of the in- dividual is just as important today as it was in the days of the formations of this country. Time runs on, and the graduates and un- derclassmen of today are the parents of the children of tomorrow. You are the ones who will inculcate in your children the standards of conduct and the ideals that should make this country and this world a better place to live in than ever before. Your teachers have tried to do their part, and you owe much to them for their patience and their persistence in giving you the best that was in them. To the Graduate-God Speed. To the underclassmen-Do the very best that you can, then do a little better.
