The Red and Blue started the campaign with four consecu- tive victories helore losing to an alert Nanticoke eleven. In heing deleated only twice, the team linished seeond in the VVyoming Valley Confer- ence. ln their quest lor the third successive eonler- enee crown, the CIrusader's offense racked up a total ol' two hundred twenty points lor a 24.4 points per game average. A rugged defense limited opposing hacks to sixty-nine counters for a 7.6 average. Coughlin also sported a light aerial delense permitting a minimum of pass completions. 'I'he Red and Blue ollensive thrusts were paced hy the hard running ol' Mike Ulsakowski, Alex Petroski. Paul Krum, Bernie Dechman and Danny 'l'erpak. Our leading scorer was Mike Ulsakow- ski who tallied live touchdowns, thirteen points alter touchdowns. and a lield goal for a 46 point total. Yogi Terpak was second with six touch- downs. Sharp line play was the key to many CHS. xietories. 'l'he lorward line was composed ol jack Makaraxitz. Ray Yatko, Andy Matty, Franklin Dale. and l.ee Lyons. Mike Holthaus and Bob Cole starred at the end positions. Ninety Champ: HHS Coughlin won the third successive City Cham- pionship hy defeating Meyers I8 to 7. and slipping past G.A.R. 6 to 0. The Crusader team was further honored in having two of its members selected to the Vfyom- ing Valley All-Scholastic team. Named to this team were lohn Makaravitz and Michael llolthaus.
