UDBII LBIIBI' Tn THE SHIHUF EIHSS Upon graduation, you will be confronted by the crossroads of life. You will no longer travel in a unified group as you did during your six years in Coughlin High School, but each member of the Class of '59 will go his separate way. Some of you will go on to higher education, others will enter business and industry, and some will start homes of their own. You will always cherish the memories of your years at Coughlin, and, as time goes by, these memories will have deeper meaning. In the future many of you will attend class reunions and try to recapture the spirit of your school days. Indeed, you may remember that you went to school during a momentous period of history, the beginning of the space age. Perhaps, in your lifetime, man will travel through space, and the visionary dreams of 1959 may become practical achievements. Whatever scientific changes may come, we hope you will maintain your faith in humanity. At times, in our wonder at the marvels of science, we are apt to forget the inestimable worth of the human being. No scientific discovery is an asset to the world if we neglect the admonition to love and respect our neighbor, our fellow man. And, in this day and age, every man in the world is our neighbor. At Coughlin we have tried through constant changes to meet the needs of the present day. This foundation in education will, we hope, prove a valuable back- ground to you in your future life. Furthermore, we trust that as members of our community here at Coughlin High School, you have learned the moral values of co-operation, courtesy, honesty, and respect for your fellow man. May the training you received at Coughlin enable you to adjust to life's situa- tions with more ease and to meet life's problems with more understanding. And, may success and happiness be yours in the years to come. Mao
