Nlllll ll HU UH SHEIETY Chosen for their outstanding qualities of scholarship, character, leadership, and service to their school, thirty-seven Coughlin High School seniors were selected as members of the National Honor Society for the year 1959. Membership in this society is the highest honor that a senior stu- dent can possibly receive and only fifteen per cent of the senior class is eligible, There was a sigh of both joy and relief when these eleven boys and twenty-six girls heard that their one high school dream was fulfilled at last! They will receive the pin of the National Honor So- ciety, a pin they will be exceedingly proud to display because they know that they have worked so hard to uphold all that the tiny gold pin stands for. This society has gained distinction throughout the nation, and it serves to stimulate among the underclassmen a desire for a high scholastic stand- ing and the development of a good, strong char- acter. Because of its importance, a tradition was established at Coughlin years ago, and it still exists today. This tradition is National Honor Society Day, a day set aside on which the newly elected honor society members receive their long awaited pins and present an interesting display of their various talents. Both the faculty and student body of Cough- lin High School would like to extend their whole- hearted congratulations to these thirty-seven de- serving seniors, deserving because they have worked for four long years to fulfill a dream they had some time ago, the dream of being a member of the Iames M. Coughlin High School Branch of the National Honor Society. I-'rank Shnlnoy Marion Timek Patricia Van Scoy Raymond Yutko Ann Mario Zumehak Daniel Terpack Michaolene Timek
