twenty-four Open Letter To The Class of '53 This year l953 will mark the culmination of your hopes and desires of the last few years. You will have many milestones in your life, but none that will have guite the importance of your graduation from high school. You are graduating from a school that is rich in history and has in itself marked many milestones in its long career. Two significant ones have been the first publications of the IOURNAL in l893 and that of the BREIDLIN in l923, Rich in traditions and high in prestige, Coughlin has graduated almost eight thousand young men and women. Many of these have left to win fame and honor in various fields of endeavor. If we were to examine the lives of these men and women, we would find that those who achieved success started their careers with a definite purpose or goal in mind. So it will be with you. To achieve success you will need a definite aim in life. You will also need strength of character to overcome the disappointments, the discouragements, and the setbacks that every individual encounters. We, at Coughlin, hope that your training here will assist you in reaching your goal. Our best wishes go with you as you go your separate ways in life. May God be with you Class of '53 as you become alumni of Couahlin High School. May success crown your every endeavor. mee Sincerely,
”
