'J 1' 'A if ll. r 1- ' 'ff 'YV' Ml A The educational pattern of the Middle Ages, for instance, was created by a way of life called feudalism. A part of the design of this pattern was the system known as chivalry. Imagine a young fearless crusader, trained in the ways of courage, honor, and courtesy, about to set forth upon a guest to far-distant lands. He was not always a fearless warrior, for only seven or eight years earlier he had been a humble page in some great household. Only by years of effort and study and devotion had he proved himself worthy of knighthood. As he went forth, though he was untried, he faced life un- afraid because he had been well educated in the arts and skills necessary to meet his life experiences. He knew he would risk his life defending the ideals in which he believed. Yet, his courage was high, and his faith was strong, he set out, confident in his future. The chivalric ideal, though the pattern is changed, still inspires us, and, though our pattern of education differs from that of the medieval crusader, we feel that our school has educated us well so that we go out equipped with knowledge and strength and faith to meet the challenge of the modern chaotic world. five

SIX DEDICATIIIN I am but one who humbly speaks for all Of us, that I might tribute pay to him Who is of worth so great that words are weak And faltering the pen that tries to tell His greatness in a few short lines of verse. This man has set a pattern, through the years, To guide us on our way. We found in him our teacher, counselor, And friend. All those who had desire to learn he taught And shared his wisdom so that in their minds There grew ambition and great zeal to know All there might be to know of books and life. To share his knowledge was his great delight. For thirty-eight devoted years he served. To teach us was his joy. Each one of us was always certain that He'd help us solve our problems, great or small. His way was kindliness and truth, and, when All other ways would fail-firm discipline, But based on justice, this we knew. Our Admiration for his sense of justice grew. To guide us was his right. His strength of character is manifest To all who know the life of service he Has led. As citizen he takes his place Among the great men who have served so well. His church he serves in many ways and is A source of strength to those he leads. His life Is witness of the Golden Rule by which men live To serve God and mankind. It will be difficult to see him go- Our cherished friend-we'll miss him constantly. The 'power of his personality Has touched us all, In these weak words we speak Our gratitude and hope that in the days Ahead helll Hnd contentment and great joy To Hll the years to come.
