NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The National Honor Society, with its headquar- ters in Chicago, was initiated into Coughlin High School in the year 1923. This society is valuable to the schools of our country because it serves to encourage scholarship and to spur the members on to further study. Qualifications Needed Members of this organization are the students chosen for their high scholas- tic grades from their freshman year up to and including the fifth interval of their senior year. Students must be in the upper quarter of the class, but only fifteen per cent of the graduating class may belong. In addition to the high grades service to the school leadership and character are also considered in the selectron of the members Many of Couqhlrn s clubs claim the people of this society as officers This is proof of their ability in leadership Membership Announced After Fifth Interval Since the list of members is not made up until after the fifth interval, announcement of member- ship is not made until a few weeks before gradu- ation. Pin Awarded The National Honor Society Pin, with the torch of knowledge engraved upon it, is to the high school student what the Phi Beta Kappa key is to a Collegian, recognition of outstanding work in school. What better inspiration could the younger students have than the exam- ple set by this years honor students in scholar ship and leadership in the activities of the school and as citizens of our school community? The members of this organization deserve our sin cerest congratulations for their excellent work X First row tleft to riqhtj Ruth Smacher Regina Oldzrejewskx Rita Paul Shirley Phillips Patricia Grimaila Mildred Rudawsky Barbara Lupco Josephine Parise Irma Hudak Irene Fterverker Mane Szymanskr Second row Henrietta Gwrazdzmskx Dolores Frlxcko Elsie Plummer Sophie Passert Ursula Koulrk Beverly George Constance Cooper Shirley Cooper June Roberts Mildred Patrick Cora lean Branch Ann Marie Herman Kathryn Stesney Helen Slawlch Margaret Boyle Third row Dorothy Michaels Jeanette Gregory Dorothy Cusick Dorothy Stahovrc Catherine Elrnskr Marion Gates Michael Sxsco Iohn Adamchrck Anne Donohoe Sara Schultz Shirley Sals burq lean Smlqelskl Rose Sxsko Evelyn Sink Fourth row Iames Orphanos Paul Gozick Robert Bachman Albin Aukerlund Charles Morrissey Nicholas Havrrlak Benyamm Moses Elmer Reese Thomas Kalamk William Walters Alfred Keay Basil Andrews William Wmsock Vincent Szykman IIIIILILLIL ' N I, 'c Q l -Ny 1 L ' l I ,kg g lx A A X, l I xl 4 M1 ' John Adamchlck Ieanette Albert Albert Anderson Carl Adams Natalle Allen Michael Andrasko lean Adams Mary Almasie Basil Andrews MARIE ELEANORE ANTOSH North Commercial Girl Re serves 2 Spamsh Iumor Chou Student Service Com mittee Iumor Red Cross Stamp ALBIN MOSIER AUKERLUND Courtright College Techm cal Editorial Staff Board of Publications Stage Crew 3 Bank Cashiers Iumor Ushers Masauers Speakers ROBERT BACHMAN Courtrlght College Technical Iumor Ushers HIY 2 Bowling Student Service Committee Track Z Lettermen s ROBERT IOHN BANASZEK S G S Memorial General SARA AGNES BARNA Columbia Commercial Girl Re serves 2 Spanish Club Student Service Iumor Choir Iumor Red Cro s NORIVIA PATRICIA BARTOLETTI S 6 S Memorial College Academic Masquers Speakers G A A Iournal Re porters Iournal Campaign Speaker Student Service French Iumor Ped Cros Stamp 3 Secretary Stamp Iournal Skit DOLORES MARIE BASTA Courtnght Commercial Secre tary G A A Majorettes Io1.rnalReoorters French Girl Re erves Iumor Red Cros First Ard HELEN RITA BENISH Ccurtright Commercial Girl Re serves 2 Spam h Stamp Iumor Choir Iumor Red Cross Student Serv ce Committee WILLIAM RICHARD BIERBACH Mackin College Technical Band 2 H1Y Vice President Student Service Commit tee Bowllng Z Fre hrrran Orche tra twenty JOHN THOMAS ADAMCHICK.
