Ih the minds of the gathering classes, the delights of the summer had slipped behind to become merely happy memories, and in their place had come new pleasures, the anticipated pleasures of another ten months at Coughlin. The familiar halls and faces were induce- ments enough to start the student body enthusiastically on the new year. 0 The three upper classes assembled in the morning. They found the building in excellent condition after the usual, thorough summer cleaning. In the auditorium, they were greeted by the principal, Mr. Super, fresh from his summer excursion to the Scandinavian penin- sula. After the usual chapel services, they were assigned and sent to their respective roll-call rooms where registration cards were filled out and schedules of classes received. Following this, they attended classes until twelve when they were dismissed because of the enrollment of the freshmen in the afternoon. The registration figures showed a school even larger than that of last year. The senior, junior, and sophomore classes contained 1461 pupils in all, ll6 more than the corresponding enrollment of last year. At two o'cloclc, the new freshman class assembled for the first time. Although timid at first, they seemed quite eager to enter into the school life of Coughlin. After Mr. Super and Miss Katherine Toohey, dean of girls, welcomed them, they were given bulletins which ex- plained the location of rooms in the building and various school regulations. They were then told about the various departments of the school and asked to select their courses and register. After their division into classes, they were dismissed for the day. Their number was 776, which swelled the student body to 2237. This heavy registration again necessitated the use of rooms on the top fioor of the Union Street Building. Seven
