The first half was more or less a see-saw battle. Much of the action took place between the two 30-yard lines, but late in the second quarter a pass to the op- ponents' left end scored a touchdown for Emporium. The Falcons blocked the attempt at an extra point. The Coudersport eleven gained ground steadily in the third period and DeStevens scored on a running play from the 15-yard line. The attempt for the extra point failed. The Falcons' hopes were soon dimmed as Emporium's aerial attack netted two touchdowns-one in the third and one in the fourth quarter. The Falcons vainly attempted to stage a comeback and were driving toward the opponents' goal when the final whistle ended the game. CAPT. DEWEY PFUNTNER COUDERSPORT 30-SMETHPORT 13 With plenty of spirit and determination to win their first league game, the Falcons kicked off to the Smeth- port eleven on the muddy and wet field of their op- ponents. Early in the first quarter the Orange and Black put a damper on the situation by completing a touchdown pass. Smethport led 6-0. Assisted by excellent blocking, the backs carried the ball to the two-yard line where Captain Dewey scored and fullback DeStevens added the extra point. How- ever, the Falcons' lead was short lived, when Smeth- port recovered the ball deep in Coudersport territory, and after battering a strong Coudersport line they scored their second and last touchdown. The try for extra point was successful. The Falcons on several successive runs scored again and tied their opponents 13-13 as the half ended. The last half was definitely Coudersport's. A long run gave the Falcons their winning touchdown. The game ended as the Purple and White was staging a sus- tained drive towards their opponents' goal. f 1 ' ., 5. 55 -QL HV EW LINCOLN MAHALEY COUDERSPORT 32-PORT 13 Trailing by a score of 13-7 in the second period, the Falcon team became alarmed and, with determination, scored two touchdowns in rapid succession. At the end of the half, the score read 19-13. Coudersport's ancient rival, Port Allegany, came back in the second half determined to win, but each attempt of the opponents was halted by the power of the line and the thwarting of their plays by Couders- port's consistently hard-hitting right guard, Senior Pat Cavigliano. ' The Falcons, assisted by excellent blocking, marched down the field twice in the final half with one touchdown in each of the two quarters to boost the Coudersport score to 32-13. nfs... .X A.,-5, so . , ' ' .. wa U X sf Y? The Falcon eleven experienced difficulty in con- verting the extra pointsg and the team, captained during the third period by John Mahaley, was able to make only one running play good for a 7-point tally. Just once, late in the fourth period, did the Otto team threaten to scoreg but the intended touchdown pass was intercepted by senior right end Masolotte. In the next play fullback Eugene DeStevens, on a deceptive play, ran the ball 105 yards for Coudersport's sixth touchdown. The scores in this game were chalked up three by Eugene DeStevens, two by Paul Corey, and one by Kenneth Tingley.
