Poge 48 Strike Up The Band Strike up the band is a familiar phrase heard in and around Cotter as the school season opens. The Band is always on hand at all the home football and bas- ketball games which creates more school spirit and adds entertainment, The band consists ot 40 members and is continually increasing under its capable director, Mr. Robert Schuh. The band plays all kinds ot music in- cluding overtures, marches and jazz. The band presented its tirst concert ot the year for the Cotter Mothers' Club. Included in the program was the Indi- ana State March, l-l.M.S. Pinatore, Si Tracadero, which proved to be a very enjoyable novelty number, and many others. The Cotter band made its tirst real appearance as a marching unit in the Winona Winter Carnival Parade. lt kept in step to the beating rhythm ot nine new street drums, tour tenor drums, and two Scotch drums. The Cotter Mothers' Club which has assurned as its project ot the year the puruchasing ot band instrumentsisup- plied the new drums as well as the new Bull Lyre and Sousaphone which was ac- quired tor the brass section. The band attended the Instrumental Music Festival at Austin April l9, and came home with honors. Members ot the band are: Clarinets, Elizabeth Bronk, Dorothy Koutsky, Shar- on Howard, Joan Sieracki, Mary Ann Cy- sewski, Carol Mlynczak, Marian Wrob- lewski, Barbara Kukowski, Gail Molitor, James Hennessy, Patricia Mauszycki, Shirley Starzecki, Trombones: Joanne Bilder, Mary Jane Kluzik, Jeanne Scher- er. Trumpets: Pearl Bernadot, Donald Dooney, Lee Zill, Ray Grulkowski, Ted Lewica, Director: Mr. Robert Schuh. Baritone: William Baechler. Sousaphone: Paul Breza, Richard Rolbiecki. Bull Lyre: Marion Schumacker. French l-lornz Mary Lou Lettner. Saxaphoneg Mary Joyce Czaplewski.
