The school auditorium and four class rooms have been completely redecorated. Additional equipment has been added to the industrial arts and home economics departments. One hundred pupils' desks in the high school study hall have been refinished. Two additional teachers have been added to the teaching staff— one in the elementary grades and one in the high school. The Roscoe Parent Teachers Association has purchased and installed several pieces of new play- ground equipment for the elementary grades. In the 1956 Coshocton County Fair school exhibit, Roscoe School won an A grade in all departments except two. The departments exhibiting were the high school, high school art, elementary grades, grade art, home economics, commercial, and industrial arts. In the 1955-1956 basketball season, the Roscoc team was co-champion of the Coshocton County League and was undefeated in the county tournament. The team was defeated in the finals at the Sectional Tournament at Zanesville. Several of the 1956 graduates received scholarships from colleges and universities in the state. THE' TUSCARAWAS VALLEY CONFERENCE The Tuscarawas Valley Conference started as a football league in 1954. It originated to help solve schedule problems and to give the member schools an objective each year during football season. The member schools are West Lafayette, Midvale, Tuscaraw-as, Strasburg, Malvern and Tuscarawas Valley. Tuscarawas won the first league championship. West Lafayette the second and Midvale was champion in 1956. In 1956 West Lafayette finished in a three-way tie for second place with a two won and two lost record. In the three years of league play West Lafayette has won 8, lost 3 and tied 1. At the organization meeting of the league it was decided an all star team would be selected each year. The purpose of this team is to add interest, incentive to our games and reward outstanding players. The players arc first nominated and in the final ballot a coach can vote for only three of his own players on defensive team and three on the offensive team. The players pictured arc those selected from West Lafayette in 1956 and the trophies they were awarded. 94 k 1 No. 31.
