PAGE SEVENTY-ONE BAND I • % ' t ' .. 1 1 4flpi GLEE CLUB Playing at football games, basketball games, for special occasions and drilling, the 50-piece West Lafayette Band again broke performance records. Snappy in their completed uniforms and lively in their quick shuffling march time, the Band made several hits by its ma¬ neuvering quickly, smoothly at the halves of several basketball games. The Band’s loss with graduation will be more in quality than quan¬ tity with only five Seniors whose places will be hard to fill. Standing: Foster Van Dusen, Helen Norman, Nellie Ashbaker, Robert Fleming, Nellie Moore, Betty Maxwell. ORCHESTRA With a much improved violin section, the Or¬ chestra was, musically, the outstanding group this season. The Orchestra has not had the op¬ portunity to perform as many times as the Band, but its work was more of quality. Sev¬ eral members participated in the County Fes¬ tival. The highlight of the season was the Or¬ chestra’s prominent part in the local Music Festival, doing the difficult job of accompany¬ ing soloists and the Glee Club. Back Row: Roy Sees, Lester McCune, James Moorehead, Charles Selders, James Patter¬ son, Vernon Shaw, Mr. Nickles.
