Class History As our thoughts wander back across the past four years spent in Cory-Rawson High School, many memories, some pleasant ones and some not so pleasant, run through our minds. We began our high school careers on September 8, 1965. After a few days of bewilderment and wandering about the halls, asking teachers where this and that room was, we settled down and became use; to the system. The able guidance of Mrs. Zimmerman, Miss Colburn, and Mr. Edie also helped us to gain in knowledge of the affairs of high school life, with its new excitement and responsibilities. To help us organize our efforts into orderly channels, we chose Larry Young as our class President, Paul Businger as Vice President, Dwayne Beach as Secretary, and Donna Thomas as Treasurer. We were sorry that Beth Buist, Norman Duffman, Dave Svoboda, and Sue Taylor were unable to continue with us as Sophomores. Our second year as high school students was begun with a little more understanding of what was expected of us. Gone was the bewilderment of the Freshman year; in its place was the knowledge that school could be surmounted— but only by hard work. To lead our way were Mrs. Davies, Mrs. Wasbro, and Mr. Pixley, and to assist them we elected our class officers: President, Gary Fruchey; Vice President, Debbie Baier; Secretary, Jeanette Hartman; and Treasurer, Pam Marquart. One of the highlights of this eventful year was choosing our class rings. During the year we lost Helen Baker and Jeanette Hartman. After a too-short vacation we came back to school as Juniors. The first few weeks were an unwelcome change from the fun-filled summer days, but it proved to be an important and eventful year, beginning with receiving our class rings and the Homecoming Dance, and gradually leading up to the presentation of the Junior— Senior Prom, entitled Fairyland by Night. Early in the year we chose our class officers. The results showed: Gary Fruchey, President; Dwayne Beach, Vice President; Linda Schaller, Secretary; and Larry Bowersox, Treasurer. Working together with our sponsors, Mr. Deeds, Mr. Rossman, and Mr. Abbey, we found that school could be a great deal of fun. Linda Hoffman and Donna Montgomery entered our class during the year, but Linda, along with Terry Freed, Christine Smith, Sheila Smith, and Ricky Wilson, was not able to begin the Senior year with us. Now at last we are Seniors. We are the ones who are looked up to by the underclassmen, who are now leading the way. We have our future lives to look forward to, but memories of these four years will stay with us. In our first class meeting we chose our officers for our final year: President, Kurt Beach; Vice President, Dwayne Beach; Secretary, Roger Scoles; and Treasurer, Roger Frommer. Our sponsors, Mrs. McHugh, Mr. Clevidence, and Mr. Hamman, assi sted us in choosing our class motto, colors, and flower. We, along with Larry Williams, whom we gained at the beginning of the year, are looking forward to the Junior— Senior Prom and Commencement, which will climax four of the most enjoyable years of our lives.
