Our freshman year, 1963 found a group of 82 green freshies entering the hallowed halls of C-R. We progressed rapidly under the guidance of our teachers and especially our class sponsors, Mrs. Reeder, Mrs. Zimmerman, and Mr. Jenkins. Through their influence, we soon found out that we didn't know quite as much as we thought we did. We chose our officers to guide us through our first year. They were: President, Nelson Schaller, Vice President, Steve Beagle, Secretary, Cheryl Hartman, and Treasurer, Sharon Crawford. During the year we were unfortunate to lose Paul Huston, Rudy Lopez, Sarah Oswald, Louis Thompson, and Gary Williamson. Gaining in confidence, but losing the glitter and excitement of our freshman year, we plodded on as sophomores, falling into the ruts of high school life. During the year we cheer- ed for several of our boys who were on the football and basketball teams. We also enjoyed choosing our class rings and attending class meetings and parties with our sponsors, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Lee, and Mr. Marshall. Our officers were: President, Les Cook, Vice President, Bill Bauman, Secretary, Sharon Baier, and Treasurer, Carol Shafer. Gained during the year was Jo Ann Marquart. Lost were Sharon Crawford and Danny Taylor. Before long the summer had drawn to a close and we were juniors. As juniors, we found the responsibilities of being upperclassmen mounting. One of the highlights of the year was the receiving of our class rings. Our dramatic ability was displayed by the presentation or our class play, Hill Billy Weddin , under the supervision of Mr. Berry. Due to the co-op- eration of the class members and the director, it was one of the crowning achievements of our year. Officers elected for the year were: President, Les Cook, Vice President, Bill Johnson, Secretary, Marsha Carr. and Treasurer. Don Dorman. Our sponsors. Mr. Deeds, Mrs. Reed- er, and Mr. Rossman probably suffered from a few headaches while helping us plan the an- nual Junior-Senior Prom. It was held in the high school gymnasium with the theme being, Moonlight Over the Pacific. During the year we gained Pam Decker but lost Wanda Bowman and Larry Henry. At last we are seniors. We have been looking forward to this time since we were fresh- men. Now we are the ones setting the examples and being looked up to by the underclass- men. The responsibilities which have slowly mounted are at a peak. The officers for our final year together are: President, Les Cook, Vice President, Bill Johnson, Secretary, Marjorie Rausch, and Treasurer, Don Dorman. Big events of the year were the selection of the class colors, motto, and flower, and the memorable J unior-Senior Prom Banquet. We welcomed Steve Hoch and Debbie Courtney to our class but were sorry to lose Deb later in the year. The members of the Senior class wish to thank our sponsors, Mrs. Wilson, Mr. Clevi- dence, and Mr. Berry, who have helped to guide us in this, our last year, towards a gradua- tion that will be followed by successful and meaningful lives. Cory, Ohio Bluffton, Ohio 34 f' Senior Class Prophecy The year is 1976 and the setting is anywhere in the World. Hello there, my name is Nel- son Schaller and I am to be your guide as we journey around the globe to see some of our former classmates at work and play. While we are waiting for our plane we take in a show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City where Sherry Steinman, Ruby Lootens, Pam Saltz, Joyce Duffman, and Cheryl Motter are starring with the famed Rockettes. Also in the same show are John Cramer, Terry Hicks, and Lowell Kline doing a dance routine. After an enjoyable show we are taken to the airport in a taxi driven by Mike Warren. Upon arrival we are held up by a demonstration of the FAR RIGHT SOCIETY led by Paul Little and Don Stakland against TWA President Merle Fenstermaker's price raises. This demonstration is broken up by the head of the FBI, Ron Howell, and his men and we are able to board our plane piloted by Les Cook. The stewardesses, Cheryl Hartman and Sue Walters, do their best to make our trip more enjoyable by giving us two lumps of sugar in- stead of one in our. tea. We arrive in London, England, where we are greeted by members of the FAR LEFT SOCIETY led by Dave Honse and Charles Schmell demonstrating for higher airline prices. As we fight our way to the terminal we are stopped by Don Dorman selling peanuts, pop com,and newspapers. We read in the Times where the head of Scotland Yard, Dave Wag- ner has finally captured the notorious king of the London underground, Jim Ream, who was tripped up for trying to pawn the Crown Jewels at Paul Bormuth's Hock Shop. We also read of Linda Morrison and Joyce Marquart's return from shooting their latest Italian film. After leaving London for Paris we see a raging angry mob waving signs and shouting against our Ambassador to France, Steve Hock. Our co-pilot, Jeff Vermillion, is injured by flying tomatoes and is treated by our flight nurses, Nancy Cupples and Nancy Chmitlin. Our next stop is Moscow to visit our consul, Burnette Shilling, capably assisted by Kathy Von Stein, Patty Bell and Marjory Rausch. We also visit our Foreign correspondent Mike Waltz who was given the Pulitzer Prize for commentary on the capitalistic views of oil tycoon, Steve Beagle. We board another plane and head for Hong Kong, China, where we stop at Carol Shaf- er's Ancient Chinese Buffalo Burger Shop. We are served our nice, dry hunks of leather by Pam Decker and Bob Cupples. The entertainment for the evening is provided by Sharon Baier accompanying Nancy Latham and Marsha Carr while they give a performance of Siamese Ballet. Unfortunately as I was leaving I tripped over a mop bucket belonging to Kaye Westall. We stopped at Blackbelt, Patty Jones' Judo School. We notice Rhonda Bout- well and Ilene Bower working for their Madras Belts. Bill Bauman and Jim Wineland have already mastered their brown belts. Our plane is waiting to take us to Hawaii. There we interrupt a National Hula Con- vention where President JoAnn Ferrenberg has just presented outstanding Hula Dancer Awards to Marcia Elsea, Joanne Marquart, Linda Jones, Shirley Wilson and Barbara Wol- ford. We drop in on luau given in honor of pinepple king, Pete Wilson and chief hog pro- ducer, Bill Johnson. We journey back to the States in one of Steve Kimme1's ocean liners where Captain Bob Marshall and Recreation Director Doris Reichley do their best to make our cruise en- joyable. We arrive in Los Angeles, home of the world champion Rams coached by Dave Mc- Donald. In Hollywood we tour the homes of stars Linda Rankin, Carol Womack and Carol Von Stein but do not get to speak to them. For enjoyment and relaxation we go to John Brewster's night club in Las Vegas, Ne- vada, where we see millionaires, Bill Jones and Bob Meyers. Bouncers, Phil Dever and Tim Cole are escorting Mike Businger from the building. The waitresses, Garnetta Ward and Joyce Young bring us a delicious meal prepared by Sue Cole and Linda Shackelford. As we fly back to New York memories carry us back to the good old class of '66we all loved so dearly. Steve Bea le scored the Hornet's only TD. A fumble on the 5 yard line set up the Panther's touchdown. FINAL 6-6 Player of the week, Bill Johnson Van Buren The Hornets had to come from behind as they fumbled on the 18 yard line in the second quarter and the Black Knights took advantage of it. The spirited effort came in the second quarter as Mike Von Stein scored from the 16, Steve Beagle from the 26, and Bill Johnson from the 1. FINAL 18-6 Player of the week, Mike Von Stein Westwood The Hornets gave the queen and her court a feeling of security as Bill Johnson took the open- ing kickoff 85 yards for a TD. Johnson scored two more on runs of 65 and 10. Les Cook and Mike Waltz each grabbed a Von Stein aerial for two more. Steve Beagle and Tim Cole rounded out the scoring for the Hornets as the defense held West- wood to 6 points. FINAL 50-6 Players of the week, Nelson Schaller, Don Dorman Vanlue The mighty Hornets tromped the Wildcats with Bill Johnson scoring three touchdowns on runs of 8, 68, and 17 yards, while Steve Beagle scored on runs of 56 and 57 yards. Les Cook pulled in a Von Stein pass for 35 yards and the last TD. Tom Baier and Johnson ran the only two good conversions. The Hornet's stubborn defense held the Wildcats to minus 1 yard. FINAL 40-0 Player of the week, Steve Beagle Arcadia Beagle and Johnson scored two touchdowns apiece on runs of 5 and 16, 2 and 1 respectively. The Hornet's top rated defense got into the scor- ing as Dave McDonald tackled the Redskins full- back in the end zone. This moved their mark to 4-0-1 and their eye to a piece of the championship. FINAL 26-0 Players of the weekg Bob Cupples and lMouseJ Meyers Liberty Benton Bill Johnson scored four times on runs of 25, 1, 1, and the last being a 40 yard fake punt. Steve Beagle scored three on runs of 1, 19, 30. Baier hit from the 5, Dave Nessler scored twice from the 25 and 26, and Tim Cole ran two conversions. Les Cook put the defense on the scoreboard as he tack- led the Eagle QB in the end zone. The defense held the Eagles to a minus 12 yards. FINAL 66-0 Player of the weekg Les Cook Hardin Northern Mike Waltz snagged two of Mike Von Stein's passes for TD's of 40 and 19 yards. Waltz also caught one for a conversion. Beagle scampered 87 yards and Johnson plunged 1 yard and ran a con- version to round out the scoring. The small but mighty defense produced its fourth straight shut- out. FINAL 28-0 Players of the week: Mike Waltz and Dave Brewster Leipsic The undefeated Hornets seemed content as they scored twice in the second quarter when Beagle hit paydirt from the 2 and Johnson hit from the 3. The Vikings scored on a blocked punt, a freak pass and a lucky conversion. But the Hor- nets squeezed by with great effort from our de- fense. FINAL 12-10 Arlington The Hornets finished the season with an 8-0-1 mark and a defeat of the Red Devils, the second in two years. Mike Von Stein struck from the one to open the scoring. Snake Beagle squirted 53 yards for the second score. Dave McDonald blocked a punt and Nelson Schaller recovered it to set up the third TD, a 66 splurge by Johnson. Waltz caught a pass for the conversion. Les Cook juggled in a Von Stein pass for a 35 yard TD and another for the conversion. FINAL 28-6 Players of the week, Johnson and QSnakeJ Beagle The magnificent Hornets, the smallest team in the league, finished with an 8-0-1 mark and a piece of the BVL championship.
