At the completion of the football season, preparation was made for concerts, the first of which was given in the Rawson Auditorium, Sunday, January 29, at 3:00 p.m. A small group of 15 also played at basket- ball games. We wish to thank the Band Boosters' Organization for their splendid co- operation and support. STEINER CHEVROLET SALES 204-206 N. Main St. Ph. 135W Bluffton Ohio THE LAPE CO. Cory- Rawson trailed at the quarter 16-11, but held a 27-25 margin at halftime. The difference gradually grew with Cory-Ptawson leading the rest of the way. High point men were McDowell and Dukes with 20 and 18 respec- tively. Final score was 62-49. The Hornets next game was their first league game and was played on the Van Buren court. The Hornets were defeated 54-47. Dukes was high point man with 11 points, and McDowell following closely behind with 10 points. On Dec. 3, Cory-Rawson engaged Salem in a non- league tilt on the home floor. The game was close until the final quarter where Salem's greater accuracy from the floor doomed the Hornets to their reversal. Keller was the leading scorer with 12 points and Dukes netted 8 points, all free throws. Final score was 46-36. A second league encounter was played with Mt. Blanchard at Mt. Cory. Cory-Rawson rolled to a half- time lead of 32-8, The second half was almost an exact duplicate of the first half. The final score, 68-16 was an overwhelming victory for Cory-Rawson. High point men were Dukes and Fletcher with 13 and 12 points respectively. A third home game and a third victory for the Hornets was played with Dola. The halftime score of 39-10 showed that the Hornets had little trouble with the Hardin County lads. Our tall center McDowell accounted for 17 points. He had fine support from his teammates. Warren and Miller played a sterling de- fensive game. Final score 66-32. On Dec. 16 Cory-Rawson played Vanlue in a league engagement at Vanlue. The Wildcats played the Hornets on even terms for most of the first two periods. Cory- Rawson went ahead at the end of the second quarter, 15-12. In the last half the Hornets' aggressive play was effective in holding the Wilcats in check. Meanwhile the Hornets found the bucket to lead at the final gun, 35-24. A non-league game with Sulphur Springs gave Cory-Rawson another exciting victory. Both teams played nip and tuck ball throughout. Sulphur Springs fielded a very tall team averaging 6 ft. The Hornets held a 19-15 halftime lead, A 45-45 tie was broken by a field goal by Dukes in the last 10 seconds of the game. Dukes and Fletcher were high point men with 16 and 13 points respectively. Final score was 47-45. The Hornets played in a Christmas Invitational tournament at Sycamore December 29 and 30. The first game, on the 29th, the Hornets played Sycamore. The Hornets led by 9 points at halftime but the overpower- ing Sycamore team wiped out this deficit and won 44-41. A second game of this tournament was played against New Riegel.
