Sparts win games, miss playo fs The highlight for me was the kids responding by winning the rest of their league games after the big loss to Crescent Valley, said coach Tony Vandermeer of the boys' varsity soccer team. The big loss of which Vandermeer is speaking was a game that could have won the Spartans a chance for the playoffs. However, they lost the According to senior johnfar Kerlee, the team went to the CHS- CV game with confidence and dominated the game even though they lost. Kerlee felt they had a disappointing year because they 1 were expected to win. The team finished with a record of 10-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in league. When Valley League boys' soccer coaches selected the :X leagues' All-Stars midfielder, johnfarKerlee was the only pp,,pi l,.tT ff N unanimous first team choice. Other Spartans who made first 3 team were senior goal keeper Steve Needham and i' sophomore forward Chuck Bechtol. Sophomore full back V e Chris Jorgensen, was the only player from Corvallis High to N 4 , gi make second team and Sean O'Shea, a junior full back was given honorable mention. y .
