Of course the annual spring Pep banquet was the usual big success with the athletes of all spring sports being feted in the accus tomed high style The baseball track tennis and golf teams par ents faculty administration and the school board were the honored guests of Pep Club 4 was-XX' The great and climaxing event .ot the social season at CHS has always been the Iunior Prom. Under the theme of Neptune's Gardens the Prom was the biggest success that it has been in a long time. Many committees com- prised of last year's hard-working juniors were responsible for the last fling' which set a record in the number of couples turning out for it. Over the gay evening stood the mighty Father Neptune, peering down on his great domain from a high pedestal. The skate was held at Lakepark Rink, and many of the girls listened to a game over the radio provided by the owners. T Again this year, the Miss Merry Christmas dance was sponsored by Girls League. Cathy Carlson, senior class candidate, was Miss Merry Christmas, and she and the other class princesses and their escorts are sitting on the throne of presents and Christ- mas tree. ? This dance, annually sponsored by Tri-Y, was a semi- formal, and went i'Chez Ioie . Decorations included a stage. a bar which served lemon- ade on rocks , and live entertain- ment. Mr. Sakai, a teacher in Iapan. contributed a great deal to mutual good will between the two countries during his short stay at C.H.S. Mr. Sakai is pictured with Mr. and Mrs. Metzer with whom he resided. Very successful this year was the Poppa Party, sponsored by Girls League. The party was held in the middle of the year, among gay decor- ations and fun. Mrs. Mary State, Girls League advisor and GHS. Dean of Girls, greets some of the girls and their poppas . The kick-off assembly tor the drive to raise money for the football lights starts with a visual demonstration of the sub-standard light facilities. 15 Students of CHS are eagerly listening to the words of the famous Scot actor. The senior class assembly was a take-off on the fam- ous great white whale, Moby Dick. fr! It f Because the last deadline for Chintimini ma- terial is March first, we wish to tell you of the events of the coming months. Calico-cord is the first feature of this month. Prince and princesses for the classes are - Freshmen: Pam Hyde and Bob Lieb. Sophomores: Sharon McMurray and Bruce McGlasson. Iuniors: Linda Feller and Dwight Hunter. Seniors: Iulie Williams and Ierry Lear. This year there are twenty-five stu- dents working on the committees of this week of fun. The days are: South Sea Island, Dress- Up, and Hoedown Day. Completing the week is the annual Calico Cord Dance. March 18-22 is the State Basketball tournament at Eugene. See you there! April 9 the seniors hold their pot- luck. Student body campaigns and elections The initiation of sophomores into Pep Club was an event of February. The thirteen girls dressed as toothpaste tubes with the tradi- tional sign, box of Pep cereal, and candy for everyone. Pictured is sophomore initiate Lora Bennion. rv Agri HP' will take up much of April, with the month be- ing rounded off with the Spring Concert. May 14-15 is a date to remember. The Thespian spon- sored play, Down to Earth , will be presented then. OSC will host the yearly State Track and Tennis Tournaments on May 30 and 3lst. Re- member the pole drive? Maybe by this time we are finished raising our S2-100. All the projects were loads of fun, the car washes, pancake feed, talent show, etc. Iune 6 will be the first of the closing functions of school when the senior awards assembly will be held. Baccalaureate is held on Iune 8 and Commencement on Iune ll. And IUNE I3! Everyone is waiting! SCHOOL IS OUT! We'll see you again next year, but for now, have fun! They also participated in many activities with their brother organization, Hi-Y, including a hayride and dance and a caroling party at Christmastime. In March, the Corvallis chapter of Tri-Y played host to the District Tri-Y conference of chapters throughout the area. This culminated a year in which the club made jokebooks for the Veteran's Hospital, furnished a Thanksgiv- ing basket to a needy family, and presented the formal on New Year's Eve. Q fm!
