This annual drive .yas launched as a memorial for the late Torn Shidler V563 and proceeds were rliyicied up betfueen the Cancer Fund, the Heart Fund, and the March of Dmoz. As last year the campaign was run on the basis ot a rontest between the classes and again the class ot '57 came out on ton. Although some of the classes had their own unique ways of earning money, such as the eighth grade car-wash, the sophomore pie sale, and the senior iug, the main source of funds was the collection of newspapers, magazines, and bottles. Also a lot of money was brought in on the roadblocks, the Disklathon against Disease, the block of dimes, the rally dances, and the snack breaks. The main reasons for the big success of the drive were the enthusiasm of the students and the support of the townspeople. Of course, the whole thing would have been impossible without good leadership, careful planning, and co-operation. Shirley Whiteman and Stuart Kendall, cofchairmen of the drive, did an excellent iob of planning and directing the proiect. They were aided on this by the class chairmen: Linda Henderson, senior, Bruce Andrews, iunior, Tom Buchanan, sopho- more, Lola Conklin, freshman: and Betty Marguiss, eighth grade.
