SENIOR CLASS ADVISERS: Miss Ethel Ranneyg Miss Vera Horner, Mr. Fred Quale. Senior History Wide-eyed and eager, we entered the high school and took our place on the bottom rung of the ladder. Mike Weatherbee was elected our first class president. Even though we spent most of the year getting used to our new environment, we managed to have several skates and a class picnic, at which many of us were bad little kids and went boating and swimming after the advisers had gone home. As a result, our next year's party was confined to the school grounds! After finishing our first year, we named Bob Cramer as our frosh prexy. Under his leadership the class sponsored its first all school rally dance after one of the basketball games. With the help of the class council, a barn dance, held in the gym, was organized to celebrate the end of our second step on the ladder Our sophomore year was a busy one, for we had to sponsor a talent assembly and take part in the all-school circus. Prexy Clayton Carlson managed to get us a 'pie throwing booth, which was one of the biggest attractions at the circus. Bev Nelson was class princess. Achievements during our fourth year in high school included the class play, Turn Back the Clock, directed by Mr. William Reedy, and the annual Iunior Prom, which was planned around the theme, Blue Hawaii. Ted Davenport handled the gavel well that year, as our class president. Playing an important part in the success of our hardwork- ing Iunior Sales Committee was Mr. Strong. Reaching the top of the ladder, we found much success in our last year in high school. Three one- act plays were presented under the direction of Mrs. Ruby Ruth Smith, and a basketball score board was selected as the class gift to the school. Presi- dent Bob Iensen promoted many other class activi- ties, such as the winning of the student body ticket race and a class chili feed before the Lebanon bas- ketball game. Q The class of '53 now leaves C. H. S. with unfor- gettable memories of five most wonderful years.
