As you establish a basis for input into the mainstream of our society, you are confronted with a myriad of challenges which are destined to affect the entire fabric of our democracy. Militancy, violence, drugs and various other acts of dissidence are indeed symptomatic of the profound and complex discontent so apparent in our society. You will speak out, in both word and action, to these challenges which must be met and dealt with if liberty, as defined by our ideals, is to be main- tained. In so doing I would urge you to preserve order amid the change which must and will inevitably occur. Finally, I would remind you that one of the most effective ways to do good in this world is to do well in your chosen job or profession. Rest assured that those of us who have worked with you have implicit faith in your awareness of justice, your discerning judgement, and your sense of direction.
