Sharon s rn band and chorus and such In all of these she s the magrc touch She s always wrllrng to do her part And her ambrtron rs a nurse wrth a great brg heart Carolyn a writer of our class wrll Is from Seymour but our frrend strll She says she ll remarn an old mard for lrfe But we re sure someone wrll frnd her for hrs wrfe Don rs the flrrt of all the guys Seerng a grrl makes stars rn hrs eyes He says he may be presrdent someday And we re hoprng that rt wrll be that way Wanda rs tops rn our class of twenty lf she were gone we d mrss her plenty Wrth her pretty smile and pleasant face It would take a good grrl to run her a race Thelma has her 4 H work as a tool Thrs summer she attended state farr school Wrth a grrn on her face and never a frown She drrves her Pontrac all around town JoAnn wrth a drmple rn her cheek Can make you happy anyday rn the week She doesn t lrke chrckens they cause her alarm She chases them wrth eggs all over the farm Patty Jo our classmate and very good frrend Wrll strck with Randy to the brtter end Her neat appearance and very nrce clothes Wrll wrn her prarse where ever she goes Lorretta our blond rs really snappy We guess her blond harr makes her happy She lrkes to prrmp and does rt well But the srght of a mouse can make her yell Raymond our presrdent for the past two years Is dorng quite well as our graduatron nears Of course he is a great basketball star And rf he were a coach hrs team would go far Charlotte can skate when she s rn the mood She d rather do that than eat her food She lrkes all the boys but none of them best In fact she consrders some of them pests To Harlan Drrngenburg we extend our thanks Also our apologres for our many pranks He s helped us all of our hrgh school years And we know that when we leave there ll be many tears Agaru we d lrke to say a sorrowful farewell To Harlan our sponsor who has helped us so well ' . We started to school tn 44 Now that II s over we wtsh there were more It s been lots of fun, educanonal too But now we must brd our old school adreu So brd us good luck as we start on our way And rf God be w1th us we ll be successful someday Fredd1e IS f1rst on our 11st of four boys He has fun w1th h1s Chevy and makes lots of norse He 15 reckless and wtld but a mtghty nice guy we sure do l1ke him but you tell us why' Shirley IS next w1th her pretty dark han If someone says Eddre she qutckly asks where'7 She s act1ve rn Church and other thlngs too She s happy and gay and seldom gets blue Smllxng Emrlxe IS always neat And everybody thlnks she s mrghty sweet In the ten cent store she has a Job just standrng there workmg and wamng for Bob Emma Lou w1th a smrle on her face L1kCS to go bout any place She stacks all the grrls rn her pretty green car Wtlma s w1th John most all the t1me We guess that they get along Just frne She s been our cheerleader for qu1te a spell And we d lrke to say she dtd real well Dons 13 a pal to all rn need She s a fnend to the guls and sweet mdeed She has pretty blue eyes so good and krnd We thmk she's the best anyone could fmd Ruth ts always pulhng pranks Yet close to the top of our class she ranks She s good 1n sports and can really hrt a ball The boys sure lrke her and she s popular w1th all Marlrs ts qurte a grrl around town She can be qu1te sertous or act lrke a clown She ranks at the very top of our class And for bra1ns or beauty she ll always pass Anna Belle one of our sweet ones we guess Doesn t mlnd school but hates the tests She tr1es qu1te hard rn her lessons we re told And she wants to be a nurse before she grows old D1ck rs second of our only four And gee how he can make that ole car roar' He satd to make hrs poem sound bad And maybe someday we ll wlsh we had . On September 5 1952 twenty three freshmen enrolled tn Cortland Htgh School Mr Drmgenburg was our sponsor The members of the class were F reddxe Allman Shtrley Allman Em1he Alwes Emma Lou Anderson W1lmaBrowmng RosemarteCarpenter Dor1sDar1age Ruth Franke Marhs Hercamp Anna Belle Hurt Dxck Isaacs Patty Oathout Wanda Rucker Don Robertson Thelma Rust Carolyn Retchenba Lourse Stxlwell Patty Sterlxng JoAnn Schafstall Raymond Thompson Lorretta Trueblood Charlotte Von Hoene and Kathleen W1ll1ams Durmg our freshman year B1l1y Lee came to Jotn us At the beglnrung of our sophomore year we enrolled w1th 22 members and wtth Mr Drmgenburg as our sponsor Rosemarte Carpenter and Btlly Lee d1d not return that year but we gamed Sharon Pettay from Clearsprmg Betty Spurgeon from Freetown also came to be our classmate Dur1ng the year we had several skating parttes at Rok sey and a hayrtde and wlener roast at the home of Enulte Alwes We also sold hot dogs at school We recelved our class rlngs tn March of that year Wtth Mr Drtngenburg as our sponsor we started out J un1or year wlth the same persons except Betty Spurgeon who dec1ded she hked Freetown School better Dur1ng the year we had skanng parues and a hayrtde at Charlotte s We had a paper dr1ve and sold stattonary and napktns durmg the year The class play Call Me Darlmg was gtven and was a grand success Dur1ng the month of March we began planmng for our Jumor and Semor Recepnon the theme was Aprll Showers The gymnastum was ga1ly decorated wxth crepe paper raxndrops a large rambow across one end of the gymnaslum and wtth m1n1ature umbrellas and flowers on the tables Durmg the dxnner speeches were gtven by students and faculty members After the dlnner there was a dance whxch was attended by Jumors and semors faculty members and some of the Jumors parents who helped wtth refreshments We began our semor year wtth only twenty students Patty Oathout had moved to Indlanapohs and Kathleen Wtlhams moved to Mxclugan We were all pleased to have Mr Drtngenburg as our sponsor because he IS so he1pfuL Dur1ng the year we have been busy wrth a paper dr1ve prepar1ng our annual and prmtmg the school paper We have had several surprtse btrthday partles through out the year We have chosen blue caps and gowns for the commencement Our colors are blue and whtte and the flower ts a red carnatton Our class motto xs L1fe Is What We Make It We have dec1ded to go to Washmgton D C and New York on our semor tr1p We are all loolung forward to the tr1p 5' One day tn the early fall of 1966 Wtlma and I Patrtcta dec1ded to VlSlI our former classmates Havtng recetved letters from most of them we ftgured tt would be qulte easy to locate them So leavxng our husbands John Frlsche and Randy Guffey behlnd we started on our way Our ftrst stop was 1n Danvtlle Kentucky There we saw Fred h1s wtfe Vtrgtnta and thetr four boys Fred ts a hxgh school coach at Danvtlle Our next stop was tn Memphls Tennessee We learned that Em1l1e Alwes IS teach1ng tn a small school We wtll tnform you that Emlhe IS very happy and successful 1n her work there U 1 ' . 1 . 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 9 1 1 1 l 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 . - 1 - 1 . . 1 0 1 . . , . . . . 1 CO ' ll ' ' v 1 1 1 . . . . .
