We Took A Lickin' As o whole, the school suffered tremendous losses in vorious oreos. lt oll begon with the budget cuts ot the end of the '81-'82 school yeor. To stort with, students were not permitted to ottend summer school unless they hod foiled o re- quired course. ln previous yeors students were allowed to toke closses during the summer by their own choice. ln oddition, five teochers, two odministrotors, ond one counselor left our school. Plus foculty ond teochers lost o number of porking spoces. Also certoin closses were dropped from the moster schedule. Unlike eorlier yeors, the office stoff suffered losses too when they were off work for the month of July due to the closure of the moin office. With the orrivol of the new deon, Mr. Vern Jocobs, o new tor- dy policy wos put into effect. One tordy wos oll thot wos needed to receive on hour detention insteod of three tordies, os it hod been in previous yeors. l think the tordy policy is unfair, soid Doreen Son- ville, junior. We should or Ieosr get one chance ro be tordy. At the beginning of the school yeor, we olong with two other schools in the GUHSD suffered from gos Ieoks. The leoks were repoired within the first nine weeks ond were no mojor distroc- tion to students. And to top everything off, the school enrollment dropped about 130 students from the previous yeor.
