New Methods Prove to Be Effective One of the activities, that was faithfully performed at the end of each year was the pre-registration process. Students at- tended two half days of school, while the second halves were devoted to pre-registration. This process was designed to provide the students with the opportunity to sign up for the classes and teachers that they wanted. Counselors were available to assist students who had problems with their schedules. Before the school year began, students were required to return for registration. The incoming freshmen had to take science and math tests before registering. The registration process was changed for the better. Unlike other years, the students' books were already packaged in paper bags, which saved them the trouble of' picking up each book individually. Part of it was better, and part of it was worse. A lit- tle of ir was disorganized, but llike the way the books were set up, commented Brent Spaulding, senior. Students were also re- quired to have a bank guarantee card with them if they purchased their books with a check. Although they were warned ahead of time about the new policy, many students came without their bank guarantee-cards. Therefore, they were not allowed to complete registration until they were able to present their cards. This was strongly enforced- to reduce check bouncing. All things considered, the registration process went much smoother than in previous years, and will most likely be tried again. .
