wards Da Highlights Achievements Awards Day Look What Counts The annual Awards Day cere- mony was held Tuesday, May 10 in A the high school auditorium. Awards were given to several students for their academic accomplishments made throughout the year. Receiv- ing particular recognition were John Reasons and Hilary Humbert who completed their high school years with straight A's every six- weeks of every year. Also, students who set records and those who excelled in UIL com- petitions were recognized and pre- sented with certificates. Scholarships were given to select students, many of whom were kept secret until their announcement at the assembly. In addition to aca- demic department awards, the 1988-89 newspaper and yearbook editors and staffs were announced. A. Twyla Gam Shay Jennings, Colleen Flanagan and Chuck williams are all smiles as they receive Caston Scholarships. B. The 1988-89 Student Council officers sit attentively on stage throughout the awards ceremony. C. Hilary Humbert and John Reasons are recognized for maintaining straight A's throughout their 12 years of school. D. Leigh Rainey is presented an award for her help with the deaf students. C

CHS choir sets sail on the H.M.S. inafor The annual high school musical was put on a little later than usual this year because of previous commitments the choir had made. this is the first time it contained an operetta where a majority of the lines are sung rather than spoken. It involved the misadventures ofa ship captain's daughter who is in love with a lowly shipmate but expected to marry the queen's admiral. A.
