eekends From Friday night until Sunday night, CHS students make the most of their time. Cruising Seventh Avenue is a big thing, along with going to the movies. Students also attend dances at the recreation cen- ter and at the skating rink. They are constantly busy going to parties or at least planning them and looking for them. Also there are various sports activities played on the week- ends. A. CHS guys relax after playing football on a Sunday afternoon. B. Senior girls Shannon Jackson, Jinger Giles, Judi Legrand and Julie Young ask, are we bad or what? C. Ian Pendleton, Tonya Farmer and Stacy Fincher enjoy a night out together. D. Christina McElroy and Chris Aldama look forward to an exciting night at the movies. Weekends 16 Look What Counts

Several Corsicana High School students spent time during the sum- mer attending various camps. The Calicos went to SMU All American Drill Team Camp in July. They received several honors such as most admired team ofthe day and of the week. They also received the Gussie Nell Sweepstakes Award. They were awarded this by scoring Division I rating in three dance cri- tiques. After this they were invited to perform in the Freedom Bowl in Anaheim, California. The journalism department went to Eastfield College in Dallas and attended an All American Publica- tions workshop. The students went to various classes and workshops during the day. It was a hard work- ing experience for the two staffs, but they enjoyed their stay at the Holi- day Inn, a trip to Wet n Wild, shop- ping and eating out at a number of places. Two of the three cheerleading squads spent a week at North Texas Cheerleading Camp in Denton dur- D 4 E ingJuly. The Varsity Squad won the Award of Excellence finalist while the Junior Varsity Squad won the Spirit Award over the entire camp. Amy Chiles was awarded All American Cheerleader. Christy Davis, Mary Ann Livingston, and Tara Bell were nominated. In Octo- ber, the Varsity Squad performed in Dallas and qualified for Regionals. In December they performed at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Dallas with hopes to regain their National Championship title. , G Summer Camps Look What Counls
