How To Handle Qnes Teachers When in the course of human eyents it becomes necessary to raise ones grades aboye a certain point he should know the essentials of making good grades There is only one main essential the ability to handle one s teachers Therefore we shall dey ote our time to this very important subject The main weapon against these teachers IS that of deception This con sists of certain elements such as a yague idea of the content of the lesson the raising of one s hand when one does not know the answer and the looking out of a window vehen one knovss the answer Cpsychologlsts are agreed on these last two elements their contention being that the teacher will not call on anyone who seems to knovs the ansvy ers but will call upon the unwary instead l That deception is the major weapon of attack by pupils has been conclusively proyed by the results of a suryey fthe life Death Survey of l00 000 pupils m de in l938 l This survey showed that 65 8 f of the Grade A pupils The second line of offense is that of flattery All persons respond to flattery and eyen teachers are no exceptions Instead of announcing the teacher s intelligence to his face one should tell him that under no other teacher haye such a knowledge and a clear understanding of the subject been afforded Thus in a subtle yy ay the teacher is being flattered for his Zlblllfy to teach his subject A third but perhaps dangerous method of teacher control is that of giving gifts Gifts should not be lavish An apple is acceptable if there is no worm in it lf the gifts are lavish as a basket of fruit for example the purpose of the gift is too obyious Then too one should ascertain whether or not the teacher believes in the old proyerb Bevy are of pupils bearing gifts Thus in yarious ways ones teachers may be handled but one should alvy ays apply to his teachers this rule Handle Vklith Care FHARLES DFX ENN P 1 X V X . . . , . 3 i V C- 3 1 - Z H .
