WEsTPAc DECEMBER 1972 - JUNE 1973 DEDICATIGN The United States Ship CORRY QDD-8173 has fulfilled her military active duty obligation several times over during the past twenty-seven years. In times of war and in times of peace, she has proven herself worthy of her squadronis motto Anywhere Anytime . She has contributed her full share in keeping the United States of America free from aggression, in protecting the security of other nations, and in maintaining U.S. supremacy on the high seas. The USS CORRY has met her committments in virtually all four corners of the world. She has challenged the cold and pounding seas of the North Atlantic, the unpredictable and stormy seas of the Atlantic and Mediterranean, and the hot and humid seas of the Pacific and South China Sea - each time meeting all challenges with superior seaworthiness and defiance toward defeat. Her military duties on these far-reaching voyages were equally met with the same type of desire and determination to do the job and do it well. - But all this was not accomplished by a .ship - for a ship is' only a hulk of metal in the strictest of terms. Rather, these tasks were ac- complished by a United States destroyer - a ship of men - a group of men of all sorts of trades continually working together to successfully complete each mission in a highly skilled and professional manner. These men have earned the respect and pride of the United States Navy for their services rendered on board the USS CURRY. It is these men who sacrificed separation from their loved ones at home so that they could contribute their minute but vital effort in keep- ing our nation free. A And now, yet another cruise has been completed successfully by the men of CORRY, and it is to these men that this cruise book is dedicated. Alt is hoped that each and every reader of this book will see the complexity of a destroyer and feel a sense of respect toward these men presented in the following pages. EDITOR
