My name is Motoyuki Mano. but you can call me Moto. I'm a foreign exchange student from Japan I am in the senior class this year. During my stay in Corry. I have been living with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lutz. They have been a wonderful host family. They have made me feel right at home. All the people I have met in Corry have been extremely kind I really enjoyed all my free Saturdays. In Japan. I have to go to school six days a week. School in America is very exciting and educational. In Corry. there are many fun parties and dances. My favorite things in America arc girls and Itcnch fries. In rhe United States, there is more snow than I have ever seen before I was surprised. I found many friends in Corry High School, and they are very considerate and friendly. They teach me many American styles and manners. The manners I have learned are very interesting to me because they are very different from those in Japan. I will never forget my stay in the United States. Not only will I be leaving a fine home, but also many people that I call my new family. I would like to thank everyone for making this year wonderful for me. I enjoyed myself very much. Thank you all!!! Love. Moto Michael Ahlm Hello. My name is Michael Ahlm. 1 came to the United States on August 24 with other exchange students from Scandinavia. I arrived in Jamrsrown, where my host family was waiting One of my first remarks was It is very hot here. My new family asked my many questions. I was surprised that they knew so little about Denmark, since it is three times smaller than Pennsylvania. I finally arrived at my new home where I would live for the next year. My new dad is Paul Kubich and my mom is Peggy. I also have a new brother. Matt, and two sisters Christie and Bryanna. They all have taken good care of me. I want to thank Mr. Rozelle for his help in American History. He has spent many hours helping me in the library. I am glad that I could spend the year with you here at Corry High School. It has given me a great opportunity to understand a lot about your society and also about myself. I will never forget my stay here in the United States, and I’m sure I will be back soon! 33 COMMENDED SENIORS ROBERT PHILIP HECKLER PATRICIA LOUISE JOHNSON DANIEL K. You never realize how much someone means to you until they’re gone; and when they're gone, it really hurts. Cherise was sweet and beautiful, and like a white rose, much too young to die. But now she is in the hands of the Lord, and she lives in a world with no worries or fears; she is happy there. She was a friend to everyone who knew her, and for that, we ll never forget her. She will live in our hearts forever. So. instead of crying in her memory, think of a white rose, and smile for all the good times. That's the way it should be. j.K. 112 fln Memory of Bradley ennigfi GOOD-BYE I knew him so briefly, unfortunately. For he’d become a good friend to me. Now he’s gone and will be tomorrow; He's left so many here in sorrow. We kidded him. playing basketball. Because his shoes were old and small; But the other day he got new shoes; It's such a shame they'll never be used. We had taken laps together, running by the wall; Nothing in the world seemed wrong at all. After practice he yelled. I'm leaving, guys!” If only then we'd have said our good-byes. Out of the millions of hunters, it had to be he; The chances so slim — how- could it be! I stood in the hall, saw everyone cry; They all wanted to give a last good-bye. All those who knew him loved him greatly; His apperarance and attitude always so stately; If only I'd known when I saw him last — But all of that is now in the past. We try in school to make the memory last. The time together went by so fast; I guess we overlook that all must die; I just wish I'd said that final good-bye. He made a commitment, thank goodness, then, 'Cause now he's happier than he's ever been. We all know- that he was a great guy; I just wish I'd said a proper good-bye. We know this fits into one great plan; But why God took Brad, we can't understand. We sit now and think and ask ourselves why We never get to give that final good-bye. Derek Sanford Class of 1989 113 This year on October 11, the gym turned into Circus World as the third annual Homecoming Carnival was held to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis and Corry Memorial Hospital. The money donated to the Hospital was spent on two bubble cribs for the children's wing. Three thousand, nine hundred and thirty-five dollars were raised. Again this year, the Seniors lips prevailed over the Juniors in the Kissing Booth and Tood Crosscut out did himself in the Augic s Pizza Eating Contest. The Whip Cream Pic in the Face Booth went over with a big splat! WJET anchorwoman Janice F.dwards was on hand to help 1983 King Jack Vanchicri crown the 1984 King — Motoyuki Mano. The evening was a great success and a lot of fun. Special thanks go out to advisor Mr. Wojcicehowski and co-chairmen Bob Harrington, Chuck Hess, and Les L'tegg. 114 World News Hast Block Boycotts the Olympics America dominates the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles Reagan wins election in a landslide over Mondale Geraldine Ferraro becomes the first female vice presidential candidate Jesse Jackson became first black presidential candidate Vanessa Williams is dethroned as Miss America Space shuttle repairs and retrieves satellites in space War between Iran Iraq, Nicaragua HI Salvador and Russia and Afghanistan still rage Hthiopia has a huge famine that kills thousands Baby Fay's life is sustained by a baboon heart William Schroeder receives the second artificial heart San Francisco 49ers win Super Bowl over the Miami Dolphins The Detroit Tigers win the World Series in 5 games over the San Diego Padres School Events TOP 10 SINGLES ALBUMS MOVIES 1. TIRST DAY OT 01 R R TI RE Remember the fun times The good times that we’ve shared. So many people, and friends. All who have cared. We are saddened now by leaving I he thought just makes us cry. But we hold close to our hearts The memories that will never die. Now is the time to look forward Today is the day to go on. There's a whole new world ahead of us Instead of a sunset, there is a dawn. Now choose your own way For today’s a beautiful day It is the first day — The first day of our future. 232 I
