ORRY AREA HIGH SCHOOL MRS. JAMES LEWIS The members of the Corrian staff are pleased to dedicate the 1972 yearbook to Mary Curran Lewis. Since the opening of Corry Area High School, Mrs. Lewis has been the Girls' Physical Education instructor. She has been an inspiring teacher, an enthusiastic and stimulating leader among students and fellow teachers. She has taught us not only the rules of the games but also the spirit of competition and the value of fair play. 2 In Appreciation MRS. MERRITT HUNT The students wish to honor Mrs. Lucille Hunt for her many years as supervisor of the cafeteria staff. Her interest and concern in the welfare of others from the days in the old high school have been outstanding. To Honor S.E. ANDERSON The Corrian wishes to honor Mr. S. E. Anderson, Business Manager for the Cory Area School District. Mr. Anderson taught Physics and Chemistry at Corry High School for many years and served as faculty athletic director before assuming his present position. In Memoriam WILLIAM M. Legal Senior Class History Looking back upon our past years, brings to our minds the memories of many happy hours together. During our sophomore year, we built and entered our float the 100th Anniversary of Baseball in the annual Homecoming, sold class shirts, had bake sales and enjoyed a class trip. As juniors we were off to a fine start when our float, Snoopy won in the competition at Homecoming. Our magazine sale was very successful. Preparations for the prom, Gone With The Wind , were work and fun. The class enjoyed a trip to Cedar Point. As every other senior class, we feel that our foreign exchange student, Silvia Sieber from Switzerland, is the best one ;ver to visit Corry. No words could ever express the gratitude we feel towards our teachers and especially our advisors, Mr. Plyler, Mr. Klapthor, and Mr. Legal. Because of these people, we learned that in this country every person is free to become his own individual according to how much he is willing to work. American Field Service Student SILVIA SIEBER Switzerland Nobody can imagine the feeling I had when the wonder in form of a letter from A.F.S. International in New York arrived. My greatest wish became true. I really got a family in America who wanted to give me a chance to live with them for a year. I was so excited I could hardly wait to meet them. When I arrived in Corry, I knew that it would be a wonderful year full of new experiences. Corry is such a beautiful spot; especially in the fall, when all the big maple trees along the streets are changing their color. I will never forget this fiery-red the sun makes out of the colored leaves. All the people here are so kind and friendly. They never get tired to explain their American expressions to me when I don't understand them. At home, we call America the country with the unlimited possibilities. I know now why. All things arc much bigger and larger here. There is room for new investigations and ideas. I marveled first at everything with my eyes and mouth wide open, until I understood a little what is going on. All the big cars, and everybody has at least one, choosing all the subjects I liked to take at school, and the short lunch break at noon were quite an experience I had for the first time. But all my friends and teachers helped me a lot so that I never got lost in C.A.H.S. I can hardly wait for the first mow. Lots of people told me about Peak 'N Peek and I am so glad that I live in an area where I don't miss the joy of skiing. A.F. S. is the greatest arrangement and through which you can learn so much about another country. I hope I brought my country a little bit nearer to you. Then only through understanding we can build a world of peace. 1 would like to thank all the people who made it possible for me to come to this wonderful country. Very special thanks are going to my family whom I love so much. I really hope to come back one time. Class members, working with the Student Council, helped form float rules so that CAHS students may once again enjoy building floats and working at the concession stand. Class rings were obtained and a class picnic was held at the end of the year. Of course behind every great class is a great advisor. We thank Mr. Edwards who helped us immensely. We of the Sophomore Class are planning to make our future years here at CAHS as successful as this one has been. 57 Sophomores Class Of 1974 Albert Amoroso John Amoroso Tonja Amoroso Colleen Amy Kevin Amy Patricia Amy Vi Anderson Mike Andrus Cheryl Armitage Richard Armitage Mike Babcock Pam Bachofner Gordon Bailey Kathleen Baker Teresa Baker Frank Balog Dorothy Baressi Jon Bennett Carol Beverly Darla Blakeslee Joe Bogniak Larry Borton Mary Brant Barry Brcnizer Jeff Britt Cathy Brown Jeff Brown Randy Brown Rhonda Brown Terry Brum agin Joanne Burrows Larry Burrows Charles Campbell Yvonne Capela A1 Carbaugh Donna Carson Linda Carter Dave Catalfu Kevin Catalfu Linda Catalfu John Chillock Fred Christensen 58 Sophomores Class Of 1974 Stacey Christensen Mary Clabbatz Mark Clark Jim Clayton Antoinette Cline Lynn Coan Diane Cochran Melissa Cole Sue Consolo Janet Cooklis Mark Cox Dan Cragg Cathy Craker Scott Crowell Janet Curtis Len Damcott Jim Daniels Bruce Davids Connie Davis Jim Davis Molly Davis Randy Davis Richard Davis John Dcmby Nancy Dingfelder Susan Dodds Bill Donoghue Diane Drennan Dayle Due 11 Jean Dundon David Dunnewold Barb Durlin Sharon Earls Steve Eastman Jaye Edwards Malea Emmons Faith Eshelman Jerry Eshelman Dan Fairchild Holly Fargo Lisa Fargo Linda Fenno 59 Sophomores Class Of 1974 Robin Fenno Bob Ferrando Debbie Ferro Doreen Foster Jeff Fox Maxine Fralick Terry Fralick Steve French frank Frisina Ted Glatz Ronald Gluvna Tim Gould Roger Grape Joan Griebel Kathy Hajcc Larry Hajec Dave Hall Bradley Hammond Mark Hammond Kathy Hand Bob Harvey Kem Hasbrouck Lisa Hayes Bill He idler Cindy’ Hellyer Rick Higby Debbie Hollabaugh Roberta Hollenbeck Debbie Holton Sharon Hopkins Pam Houghtling Jerry Huff Crystal Huffman Helen Hultz Tab Hunter Sue Huntley Sue Jackson Ronda Jaggi Bruce Jaquith Cheryl Jaquith Diane Johnson Kathleen Johnson 60 Sophomores Class Of 1974 Kathy Johnson Terry Johnson Jane Jones Robert Joy Shawn Jukes Michelle Kahlc Charles Kalika Cary Kcnniston Kirk Kcppel Bob Kimmy Becky Kirin Julie Knoll Anne Kolaja Denise Koval Maryse Krupa Susan Kuzma Joyce Kysor Greg Ladd Paul Lawson Christopher Leinen David Leslie Patty Leslie Jane Lewis Joyce Lewis Van Lewis Christine Lindquist Evelyn Lindsey Rebecca Lindstrom Jed Linebaugh Ann Lounsbury Mike Maine George Markle Renee Marlctt Doug Marlowe Harold Marsh Debbie Martin Lynne Marty Dan Mather Dale McCray Shaun Me Elroy Scott McIntyre Sherry McQuiston 61 Sophomores Class Of 1974 Terry McQuiston Laurel Mercer Teresa Messina Bill Mcssingcr Patrick Migliaccic Rodney Miles Jeff Miller Jerry Miller Martin Mitchell Joni Morgan Becky Morton John Morton Penny Morton Robin Moyer Dennis Ncese Bill Nichols Paola Nollinger Debra Norton Daniel O'Day Holly O'Hare Chris Olson Sally Om Paula Omcr Sherry Owens Randy Parks Tina Pate Lynn Peck Cheryl PeQueei. Varsity Football The 1971 football season was not a successful one in terms of games won and lost for the Beavers. The team managed only one win over Erie Academy and a League game tie with Grove City while losing seven league games. It was our first year in the newly formed Northwest Conference and the Beaverw can only look ahead for more successful seasons. To come. Twelve seniors will be lost from the team. They gave it a good try and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors and compliment them for sticking to it when the odds were against them. Special congratulations to Paul Goodwill upon being selected first team All Conference defensive tackle--also Bruce Mick and Dave Norton selected to the Section II Team as linebacker and tackle respectively. 1971 Season Corry Corry Corry Corry Corry Corry Corry Corry Corry 20 Hickory 21 6 Warren 31 19 Eric Academy 6 6 Franklin 26 0 Meadville 7 6 Titusville 28 0 Sharps vi lie 27 14 Grove City 14 0 Oil City 28 Mr. Gerard J. The team used more eighth graders on the starting team than in many previous years. Although the team supported a record of 3-4, the spirit and enthusiasm of the boys for football remains. The Varsity squad will eventually find many fine and experienced ball players from this year's junior high team. The 1971-1972 season was one of the most exciting in years. Cony was in a battle for the Section 2 league crown right down to the wire. We tried everything in our attempt to win the first official Section 2 title. Most memorable was the assassination of Gertie (mascot) by Co-Captains Knapp and Wells. They only wounded her though and it was left to the Titusville Rockets to finish her off and win the title. It was a year of elation and frustration. This team won some big ones and lost two big ones. In the process they consistently drew the largest crowds ever to be squeezed into the Y Natatorium ana iiaa a good following at out-of-town meets. 109 Wrestling JUNIOR VARSITY—ROW 1: Dave Burress, Jim Daniels, Dale Ploss, Mark Cox, John Walsh, Mike Rushin, Dan Gates; ROW 2: Paul Niedomys, Hal Lilley, Brad Sickler, Dave Hall, Gregg Ladd, Dale Moore; ROW 3: Roger Ottaway, Bob Blakeslee, Sam Smith, Vince Niedomys, Marshall Chase.
