Hall, S. Elston, D. Rehnborg, j, Windahl, J. Feldt, D. Robinson, B, Dahl. Our seniors of this year have added their attempt at drama to the list of achieve- ments of their predecessors. It was the 1946 .Iunior Play, t'The Nutt Family, a fast- moving comedy skillfully cast and directed hy Mr. Philip Legal and Miss Jean Hormell. The action of the play takes place at Crestdale. a large summer home in the East. The home was formerly a sanatorinm, run hy a Dr. See and his staff. and occupied hy people suffering' from nervous ailments. The house is closed by Ilr. See, remaining idle for a year until Miss Helene Shelton buys it. However. she soon becomes restless and decides to tour Europe, leaving the task ot' selling the place to her agent, Miss Bea Wise. Miss VVise. anxious to sell the home. finals a prospective customer in an eccentric family - the Nutts. She agrees to let them remain in the house for a week, free of charge, to judge its merits as a future residence. l'. Nutt. a retired doctor. is the head of the Nutt family, and is actually not l'inant'ially capable of buying the house, but is content to have others believe so as long as hz: is vomfortalmle in the house. Meta Nutt, his cliarming wife. raises a pet snake. Oogie, for a holvby. VVall Nutt. their son, is fascinated hy fish and is experimenting with them. Last. Init not least, is their daugh- ter, Ima Nutt. No sooner are the Nutts established in the house when several of Dr. Sees former patients begin to arrive and the battle of wits and the fun begins. A Larry Smart falls madly in love with Ima Nutt while thinking her to be a real nut,. VVhile engaged to a girl whom he has never seen. and trying to escape her and his domineering aunt. he is confronted by a girl who claims to be his wife. To further complicate matters he is in love with this girl whom he has reason to believe is a patient in a sanatorium. Sylvia Gaylord. a prominent movie queen, is one of the former patients who arrives with her colored maid, Cerise. The antics of Cerise and the colored caretaker, Orestus, add to the hilarity of the play whenever they meet. Dr. P. Nutt --- ..... Jolnm Rossliacliei- Bea Wise ..,,,.........
