He is encased in an iron lung aboard tlie Navy ship Carronade. « HE WAS paralyzed hv paint lume intoxicaUon early Thursday aboard the ' Landing Ship ' Tank (LST) Snohomish County about 800 miics east of Honolulu. He was transferred to the Car- ronade, a member of the squadrnn. . h - ph sirians feared for his life and radioed for help. The .4rmy at Tripler Hos- pital supplied the miracle drug, terramycin. i THE NAVY supplied a por- table iron lung. The Air Force paclied the iron lung in a waterproof bag, and dropped it by parachute alongside the Carronade late Thursday and the Navy re- trieved It. The Carronade, skippered by Lt. Cmdr. L. VV,,Huhhan, detached itself from the LST squadron and is making full speed for Honolulu. Lt. Col. M. V. Frederick- son, commandant of the 76th Air Rescue Squadron, made the successful drop of the portable iron lung. »f THE STRICKEN saUor is reported m fair condition after receiving the drugs and being placed in the iron lung.
