BEEVILLE TROJANS Still showing power on the ground and much improvement in the air the Cavaliers defeated their arch-rivals, Beeville, 21-13 in a game featuring long touchdown marches by both teams. Damian Golla un- leashed an effective passing attack, completing 5 out of 6 tries, to help pave the way for victory. It took the Cavaliers only 10 plays to work the ball 80 yards for the first counter. Fullback Bob Carew pushed over the marker from the two. Golla kicked his first of three perfect placements to send the Gents ahead 7-0. The Trojans stormed back with a 62 yard drive to paydirt to tie the score. The Cavaliers took the kickoff and traveled 64 yards on 14 plays, with 60113 sneaking over from the one. Carew's fourth-down punt was blocked by Beeville on the Cavaliers' five yard line. On the third play from scrimmage Joe Gregorczyk scored. The Gents marched 73 yards in the final period to score their last TD of the night. Bobby Dougherty climaxed the drive by crashing off right tackle to paydirt. Score 21-13. - LAREDO TIGERS For the second time of the season the Maroon and Gold invaded Class AA ranks, but this time not to be denied victory, The Cavaliers ,scored the first time they got the ball. Jose Cantu and Alfred Ganem both pounced on a Laredo fumble on the Tiger 38 and in two plays the Gents moved the ball to the 29 where Golla dropped back and threw a long pass that Bauer took on the 12 and ran it over standing up. Laredo came back to tie the count early in the second quarter when the Tigers recovered a Cavalier fumble on the mid-field stripe. The final TD came when Bauer recovered a Tiger fumble on the Tiger 40 and in seven plays Joe Sullivan crashed off right tackle for six yards and the tally. The Tigers were never in the ball game during the second half. The Cavaliers held the AA Tigers to a mere 10 yards rushing in the final two periods. Score 12-6. WA .gu . .. L A. .a..e.;

FREER BUCKAROOS The Cavaliers, out to even the score against Freer from their 12-0 defeat last year, showed an abun- ance of power on the ground by downing the Buckaroos 26-13. The Gentlemen reached the scoring colum four minutes after the opening kickoff, with Sullivan scoring his first of three touchdowns. Golla's plac ment was good. The second TD came minutes later with Sullivan again going over, this time from the 1 Golla's point try was wide. Freer came back in the second quarter after a sustained drive from its own 3 with their fullback Summers scoring from the 14. The try for point failed. Freer counted again with onlyr 9 seconds left in the first half. The score at half time stood at 13-13. The Cavaliers took the second-ha kickoff and went on to score with Sullivan scoring his final marker of the night. BROWNSVILLE EAGLES Remembering last year's loss to the class AA border city the Gents were out to win but couldn't qui make it, losing 13-6. After a scoreless first half the Eagles took the kickoff and returned it to the midfiel stripe. From there it took them only three running plays to score with Sanchez swinging around right en for 46 yards and the first tally. The Cavaliersf lone score came in the third quarter when Golla carried ov from the one yard line on a quarterback sneak, climaxing a 58 yard drive. PORT ARTHUR tBISHOP BYRNE SHAMROCKST The fifth game of their season took the Cavaliers. on a four hundred mile trip to Port Arthur's Bishop Byrne High School. The experience of the East Texas team proved to be too much for the valient band of Cavaliers. This defeat was the second of the year for the Cavaliers. The Shamrocks scored three touch- downs in a wild second quarter and one in the first and last quarters. The Gents held to only 46 3'3de rushing had to rely on Golla's passing which found its mark six out of 12 tries for a total of 111 yards and the only Cavalier score. Gollais pass to end Jimmy Bauer accounted for the marker. Score 34-6. VICTORIA tST. JOSEPHtS FLYERST The Gents stuck to the ground as the regulars drove for a touchdown in each period, and the reserv- scoring a fifth TD in the last period. The Cavaliers took the opening kickoff and matched 69 yards on 1 plays with Bob Purcell scoring on a one yard dart over right tackle. Golla added the extra point. The fir time the Gents got the ball in the second quarter they marked off 81 yards to paydirt. The tally came on a 9 yard pass, 60113 to Sullivan, in the end zone. Golla again added the point. After the Flyers lost the ball i the opening minutes of the third period, the Cavaliers drove 59 yards to a score, Juan Ortueta unreeling a 1 yard dash to paydirt. Golla missed the point try. The Flyers then opened their' drive with a 58 yard pa to the Gents 19 yard line where the Cavaliers drew two penalties for 18 yards. From there Fullback Garci went over on his second try. After the kickoff the Cavaliers scored on the third play with Sullivan scorin on a 34 yard run. Golla again missed the point try. Minutes later Oscar Soliz intercepted a Flyer pass and ra it to the Flyer 20 yard line. A few plays later Soliz went over from the two. Bobby Dougherty drove ov for the extra point. Score 33-6.
