Rodeo performances and the parade followed in early February. Entries from places all over the state competed for different prizes and trophies. The Scotts- dale laycees sponsor the parade. DONEITEQ QPAIZKJ RODEO IN PARADE. Los Hermanos members per- formed their traditional task of cleaning up during the parade. Robert Hendricks, CHS princi- pal, highlighted the parade as he rode on horseback with other high school principals. Playing their former school teachers became a part of the Alumni-Faculty Basketball Game sponsored by Alpha Omega. The festivities con- sisted of skits by former Donettes at halftime and a free throw meet between luana Fredericks and Marty Muir. After the halftime, the Alumni team pulled ahead of the fac- ulty andthe game ended in favor of the Alumni, with a score of 86-57. Faculty cheer- leaders were teachers Robert Baker and Dorothylanca. OLDTIMEIZQ ADD LIFE TUALUMNI-EACIJLYY OA Denise Wheelright, a senior cheerleader in 7973, cheers on the Alumni team at the Alumni Basketball Game. UB For a few minutes during the game, juana Fredericks, physical education teacher, played basketball. She also competed with senior Marty Muir in free throwing. OC 7973 graduate Laurie Swanson remembers the cheerleading life at Coronado. OD The Alumni team consists ofgraduates such as Rick Hosler, a 7972 alumnus. Other former students on the Alumni team were C. j. Ketterer, Russ Boettcher and Brian Chatham. OE Horses and riders become important parts of the 7974 Parade del Sol. Trophies were presented to the best riders and ropers, OF Parada del Sol's Queen and Princesses speak to the crowd gathered on Main Street. IG Arab Street Sweepers clean the premises as spectators applause their duties. Ol-I The Coronado Dons Marching Band and Donettes clear the way as they play the school's song. ll Principal Robert Hendricks pauses when the signal to stop is given. Cal Bruins, Ed Segrave and William johnson all of who are assistant principals, also ride horses in the parade, 01 Characters portray gangsters and robbers in a shootout on Main Street on january 26. FACUUY SID Money raised from the special january 11, performance of the faculty musical Li'l Abner was donated to the benefit fund for jan Cranston, a seri- ously ill biology teacher. More than 352000 was raised from the regularly scheduled three evening performances, january 9, 10 and 12. This money paid for student schol- arships presented in May. Li'l Abner was the second annual faculty musical, but it' 1 was the first one Where stu- dents joined the teachers on stage as well as backstage. OA Dogpatchers listen as Pappy Yokum ltarry Halbertj reads the plaque which fell from the statue of jubilation T. Cornpone.
