QTUDENIQ IZIDEBIKEQ ON CDNQEPVOIL DAY' Concerned students and fac- ulty left their cars at home as a part of the student council - sponsored 'lConservoil Day , November 29. The most popu- lar means of transportation were bicycling and vvalking, though some rode horses and roller-skated. Over half the stu- dent parking lot was empty, as some had to work after school. Teachers formed car pools and some walked if they lived close by. The day was televised on KTAR-TV. IE Los l-lermanos held their annual car bash the same day Conservoil Day was introduced. Some people let go of their emotions by bash- ing an old car in the mall. OF Ralph Bradshaw, English teacher, rides his bike to school to save oil and gas. Teachers were found riding bikes and walking as well as the other people involved in the student-council sponsored day. UC KTAR interviews Sue Redding, senior, as she explains the importance of getting stu- dents to conserve gas. DONQ DONNE, G3-OO TOAID FOEJUNNE PEOPLE Christmas seems to be a time for giving of oneself to the ones who are less fortunate. Keeping in the spirit of this, Los Hermanos, Amicae, Criada, Key Club, jazz Ensemble, and Donettes visited the Childrens' Colony. An annual toy drive vvas sponsored by the Explorer staff. Toys were given to the Fire Department, vvho distrib- uted them to children vvho may normally not have pres- ents. Other collections were held on campus. FTAXSAE gathered lin- ens vvhile the classes had a can collection. While all of this was going on, some students stayed behind to beautify the campus. Los lar- dineros planted and decorated a Christmas tree, the classes and clubs painted the cafeteria windows and decorated the halls of the buildings. OA Spending his fourth holiday season as a department store Santa Claus, Ted Stump, sen- ior, listens to a small boy's Christmas list. OB Congratulating jody Aungst on being selected as a Los Hermanos Sweetheart is LH member Rod Deslauriers. OC Members ofLos jardineros plant a permanent Christmas tree in front of the library. OD The horn section of the jazz Ensemble plays swing music so the people at the Children's Colony may dance. OE English teacher Virginia Eades plays catch with one of the boys at the Children's Colony Christmas party. OF Putting the finishing touches on the Christmas window is junior joyce Palmer. 'G Live trees, freshly cut trees and artificial trees decorate the rooms and hallways of Coronado during Christmas week.
