Visiting the city dump and sec- tions of Fifth Avenue were part of the rehearsals for Neil Simon's The Odd Couple presented November 8-10 and again in April and May. Besides regular rehearsals, director james Newcomer tried a new concept in directing. To get in the mood the cast members visited the dump for the first scene for a feeling of dirt. Then, for the second scene they went to a Fifth Ave. shop for a clean effect. OA Staring astoundedly at Vinnie iMike Waitej as he tells how nice it is to have a clean place to play cards and some good food to nibble on are Speed ITM. Stumpj, Oscar Uim Fordl and Murray iDavid Goldsteinj. OB Felix iMike Bainj explains to Oscar the facts about keeping a clean house. OC To achieve the mood for the first scene of the play cast members of The Odd Couple go to the city dump. OD Clearing out his sinuses after being kicked out of his house by his wife is Felix Ungar, OE Setting up props, helping with make-up, making the cos- tumes, doing the sound effects and all the other behind the scenes jobs helped add life to the play. Properties. head Sue DeBree and crew member Bill Ferrell set up the table for the second scene. 'F Oscar Madison points an accusing finger after Felix starts taking over his apartment, poker game and his life. OG After inviting Gwendolyn and Cecily Pigeon iPam Hallmark and Linda Baileyj over to cheer Felix up, Oscar makes the sisters feel at home. l Q. 18 The Odd Couple

PIE EEUNG Pie eating, ugly legs and sexy lips contests were all a part of Homecoming. Untimely holi- days delayed the event from October 26 until November 6. Fireworks were displayed while choral director, Mike Merrifield sang the Star Span- gled Bannerf' During half-time Merrifield also sang the school hymn while a red carpet was . rolled out for the crowning of the Royalty. Clubs were allowed to enter float competition this year. i Fl-AVOIZQ l-I OA Battling for the semi-finals in the pie eating contest are seniors, john Norris and jerry Vasquez. This was a new event added to homecoming. OB After finishing off his winning pie, jerry Vasquez begins to clean off his face, jerry won the semi- finals and went on to the finals, OC Don's Band window placed first in the club window competi- ,wi .ll tion. ID To conserve gasoline the senior class 20 Homecoming made their float to be carried. The float placed second in class competition. OE Corey Croft and Don Whitlach were crowned during half-time. OF Building the bonfire- became one of the big tasks before the evening pep assembly. OC Doug Wal- lace buys a Carnation from Kim Loughary and Norma Davis.
