Students and faculty who did not leave Arizona for their sum- mer spent their time in different and exciting ways. Two teachers, Larry Halbert and James Newcomer were in the production of Reynard the Fox which was presented dur- ing June and July. A couple of weeks before the start of school, students paid fifty cents and got a plastic identification card with a pic- ture of themselves. Interested students participated in the summer Theater Arts workshop. The Crucible was presented August 26-28. Flooding was the result of a heavy rainstorm in the middle of July. Indian Bend Wash overflowed causing much dam- age to Eldorado Park. The Verde River and Saguaro Lake were also big attractions during the summer. ld Judy Brown, Pres Sherrod, Pam Hinton, and Stacy Naperala unload their packed car. They attended a summer workshop on journal- ism for eleven days at Northern Arizona Uni- versity. Oe Joe Andrews, senior, spent most of his summer at Big Surf catching waves to improve his skill on a surfboard. He competed in the Arizona Surfing Championship also held during the summer at Big Surf in Tempe. summer life 17
