The enthusiasm was a part of the Western crowd. We cheered the sports teams to district, then to state. We were the ones who determined boundaries. Intense enthusiasm was seen at football games; crowds sent up streamers, waved flags and cheered the football team on past district. We promoted the basketball team by shouting, “Sun Bowl.” Scholastic competitors saw enthusiasm when applause broke out after the announcements of winning scholars.
