INITIATION PARTY 0n Monday, September 28, the Freshmen Initiation party was held in the school gymnasium. A game of volley ball started out the evening of enjoyment. A few stunts were played on the freshmen who proved to be good SPOPVS' The rest of the evening' was spent in playing games, un- til a huge lunch was served. ALL SCHOOL CARNIVAL The annual Corona School Carnival was held November 6. A short program was given at the beginning of the ev- ening by the grades. The coronation was held immediately following the program. The Royal couple, Verda Pew and Billy Wilde, were crowned by last year's Royalty, Darlene Van Hoorn and Reiner Bohlen. The King's and Queen's at- tendants were Helen Rell, Paul Jordre, Bee Ann Peterson, Gene Frerlohs, Violet DeBoer, and Terry Jordre. In addition to the King. and Queen, a Prince and Princess, who were chosen from the upper grades, partic- ipated in the ceremony. Princess Dorene Fenhaus and Prince Paul Bunkowske were accompanied by attendants Kara en Pew and Robert Trapp. A , Glen Zeigler, president of the student body, pre- sented both Royalty couples with gifts from the students. Evelyn Bohlen of Corona was the winner of the 810.00 door prize. Mr. Jdhn Drewelow of Milbank was the winner of the s5.oo door prize, but he generously returned it to the school. S CHRISTMAS CAROLING PARTY - This year we combined the carollng and the Christmas parties into one. On December 17, Wednesday evening, be- tween the hours of 5 and 7, both the boys and girls of Corona High were busy singing carols for the residents. When the singers finished carollng they returned to the school where all the students enjoyed the hot chili supper prepared by faculty members. The many treats received from the townspeople added to their merrlment. After supper Christmas gifts were exchanged by all and Christmas vacation prevailed from December 18 to Jane uary 40 l DECLAMATION For the first time ln many years, participation in the annual declamation contest was renewed in Corona High The district contest was held.Monday, November 16, at Big Stone City. Under the supervision of Mrs, James Jordre, four students attended the contest. Violet DeBoer took part in dramatlcs, Judy Bellke in humorous, Verde Pew in poetry, and Paul Jordre in oratory.
