CLASS PROPHEGY As I guided my F86 Sabre Jet onto the landing strip at Corona Central airport, my heart was in my mouth. All the way from Japan I had been wondering how many of my old classmates I would find around home. I received landing instructions and came down to a neat three-point landing that surprised even myself. Boy, these last 20 years in the Air Force had really taught me something. And how the town had grown! As I reported in at the information office, I heard an angry yetbfamillar voice come over the intercom. It said, nWho was that crazy boob that just came in handling that plane like a tr1cycle?u Then I recognized the voice and rushed past the guard and into the office that said nprivate' above the door. There, 1n'a very plush chair, with his feet on a rich ma- hogany desk sat my old pal Ly. Gen. Ralph Seehafer! He explained that he had Joined up with the Air Force a year or so after I had, and had applied for a Job close to home so he could farm in between missions. He took me in his private helicopter and after showing me a b1sd's eye view of the town and new school he plunked it down right on top of the fanciest house in town!!! Two little girls came running up through a trap door on the roof and grabbed him and called him Daddynfi After meeting his beautiful wife and eating my fill of her cooking we set- tled down for a good long chat. He hadn't heard of any of our school pals except that he thought Verda was working down in Missouri and thought that I should try to get a job in the states too so, as he put it, we could keep within a few thousand miles any- way. The next morning after a delicious breakfast I re- fueled and took off for St. Louis,M1ssourl. I was hamper- ed by gog and had to put down at Kansas City instead. As I was eating lunch in a small cafe not far from the air- port, a very ritzy looking lady sauntered ln. A French poodle was leading her as would a St. Bernard. Apparent- ly he d1dn't like my looks because he came over and bit me so hard I fell off the stool. While she was -agologizn ing and I was trying hard not to get angry at suc a well mannered lady, a fine gentleman walked in right behind her and said UI've parked the car right out front, Ann, did you order our lunchnd r Ann? Did he say Ann? Why sure enough, here it was my old schoodmate Ann Fenhaus. What was she doing? Well, she and her husband Jaques were leaving for a n-vacation in Paris on her husband's luxury liner. We lunched together and I was pleased to find that Jaques was running competition with Michelangelo in the world of Art, and that Jakie and Janie, their twins, were starring at different night clubs with sxhLb1t1on.ba1let.
