Memories Following the summer vacation of 1957, our gigantic group of Sophomores, then the largest class in the history of Corona High, blessed the campus with our appearance. We were openly pleased and impressed with our new home. In the first election, during our Sophomore year, we chose Larry Phipps to head our aspir- ing group. As time passed and we no longer found ourselves 10th graders, we realized we were be- coming more united and full of class spirit. To suit our mood, we chose Don White to lead us through the Junior year. It soon came time to begin work on the selection of our class sweaters. After much thought, the colors of charcoal-gray and white were chosen. A new first came to C.H.S. when our class chose a name, the OMEGANS. The name means last of a series, and is appropriate as our class will be the last to graduate from the old C.H.S. Pat Westlake headed our Junior-Senior committee as we presented “CAROUSEL” to the Class of 59. Finally, when September ' 59 arrived, we had made it — we were Senior Big Wheels, Class of 60. At the height of our power, Larry Phipps was chosen President of our Mighty Class. “Seniors, and Seniors only are excused.” With these words, spoken by our Student Body President Don White, we knew we were “Full-fledged Seniors.” Our gala prom was one of the most memorable evenings of the year. The Senior Banquet and Baccalaureate service highlighted the final days as high school students. Graduation on June 16, 1960 was the final turning point of our C.H.S. careers and the beginning of our days as alumni of C.H.S. Our Student Council, led by Prexy Don White, conducted many proj- ects and have given our school a government of which Corona and our students can be justly proud. One of the hardest working groups at C.H.S. is the Girls ' League Board which has a great ability to come through and get behind all G.L. projects, such as their two Christmas Projects that were very successful. Big Sisters enjoyed an active and fun-filled year with their Sophomore Little Sisters. Christmas parties hig h- lighted the year ' s .activities when they played games and exchanged gifts. A good time was enjoyed by all. 87 Lettermen The Lettermen ' s Club, pictured above and below, is headed by Bob Wilson, President, and Max Diamond, Sponsor, shown at left. The Varsity lettermen journeyed to the Coliseum this year to see the SC-UCLA game. The club also sponsored the Alumni-Varsity and Varsity-Faculty basketball games. if Cadet Corps The Cadet Corps celebrates its third anniversary this year with an enrollment of approximately one hundred students. The com- mandants are Major Leo Pauly and Captain Gene Paulus. Lt. John Cairns was battalion commander and Lt. Danny McVay was execu- tive officer shown in bottom picture with the Headquarters Staff. Les Dilettantes met on Monday nights in the school cafeteria. At each of the these meetings they put on various skits or discussed some phase of drama. Members of the cast for ANNE FRANK The stars of the Jr. Class Play, ANNE are seen studying the script. (They are FRANK,” rest between rehearsals. now looking up from the script.) Mr. Stoneking scrutinizes the camera. Dave Davenport is the proud leader of the group. Members of the group went into L.A. to see DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS, starring Joan Blondell. Swan Song To each is given a bag of tools, A shapeless mass and a book of rules, And each must make before life has flown, A stumbling block, or a stepping stone. - — Anonymous Last September, our staff with a few tools, sat before a large block of stone, we shall call our Coronal. We had chosen as i our theme Sculpturing and we began chiseling away on our project with rough blows we might aptly name ideas. We gathered momentum. Our research led us from oriental gardens, through museums, to more exhibits here and in nearby cities. We dis- covered our local sculptor, Mr. Paul Brockman and he modeled in clay the head of a student. Photographs of this work are used as our division pages. We also found Mr. John Svenson, noted Southland sculptor, whose wood carvings are seen in our book. Mr. Rudy Ramos worked with us on the activities and ad photos. Mr. Jim England, helped us immensely with special photography. Always working quietly in the background, we felt the guiding hand of Mr. Leo Pauly, our faculty advisor. Our capable staff worked together as a team to meet the deadlines. We had fun with even the smallest details. And as for me, being editor has been a never to be forgotten experience. Here is the product of our labors. Hope you will like it and that it will help you remember 1960 at Corona High. 192 Ofnother TJ.
