It is these places to which we will fondly turn our minds, even after years of college, working, or marriage. Where are these places, these FAMILIAR SPOTS? Through the pages of our 1959 Coronal you shall find them. Particular spots have been the scenes of endless good times. Our athletic field, the base- ball diamond, our tennis and basketball courts, where we have witnessed countless victories and defeats the library, familiar scenes of our last-minute assignments, and pre-test cram- ming— our campus lawns on sunny days, sprinkled with students eating and relaxing — the familiar classrooms filled with undercurrents of untold secrets, forbidden gum and notes, of blank test pages and dreaded report cards — combined with the club meetings, the cokes and hamburgers at the Hi-Spot, the gym crowded with decorations and dancers, and the midnight oil spent on homework, to make 1958-59 another year which will never be forgotten. Yes, a look around our campus reveals numerous FAMILIAR SPOTS, friends, and memories. As you walk through life continue to look for the things that may reveal new friends, and other Familiar Spots that lay waiting to be explored. 373 . I £otZ_ MS ! One evening some of us were to serve coffee at the Corona Little Theater Plays. We had finished serving after the second act, but instead of doing the dishes then, we wanted to go back and watch the Third Act. Mr. Allen told us we could do the dishes when the play had ended. When the play was over, and we returned to our pile of dirty coffee cups, we couldn t find them. While we had been watching the play, Mr. Allen had done all our dishes! This is just one example of how many little tasks Mr. Allen has performed for all of us during his years at C. H. S. Student problems Mr. Allen and the Coronal Staff take a look at our newly trimmed palm trees. Superintendent: Mr. James Merrihew Asst. Many of the events will occur in one of the most familiar spots here at C. H. S. — the football stadium. It is the background for cadet corps, exercises, pep rallies, awards assemblies, for entertainment, and for the great SENIOR spell-out. Activities One of the things a senior anticipates is his place in the stadium the stone bleachers. There he is the Bigwheel of the campus, without a doubt. This is his greatest year. I wanted more than a mental picture to remember them by. I wanted something to keep with me always; so my staff and I adopted the theme Familiar Spots . This theme will have great meaning to all of us even though we ' re not all Seniors because what we now call our C.H.S. will be replaced by a new one. The things and places that are now familiar to us will grow dim. Nancy Foreman, Editor We hope this 1959 Coronal will help you remember them better; and I say we because it is by no means a one-man job carrying out a theme or putting an annual together. It is only through the constant help and cooperation of every member on the staff that our Coronal could ever have been completed.
