Text from Pages 1 - 200 of the 1958 volume:

Foreword Come sail with the Coronal 1958 as it sails over the turbulent main of sports, the rugged channels of administration, the pulsing Pacific of gaiety. Throughout this cruise we hope that the glories which have founded these activities will not be obscured. How thrilling it is to see white folds of canvas whipped into refuge behind 4 ■ the breakwater which, like a protective sea monster, lies curled on the waves. Here our ship strains and tugs at its anchor to be free once more. Students driven by the restless winds of desire are also chaffing to leave the home port — like the yacht they seem carefree, light, gay, and colorful as they emerge on the chopping sea. Yet under the veneer of sophistica- tion, this gay abandon typified by the lithesome yacht, there is a thorough preparation of character gleaned throughout a long stay in home port, where they acquired tools with which to meet the world. Twilight envelopes all in a cloak of rosy hue; tinted clouds are draped over majestic mountains of mauve. Darkness falls and lights appear; the bells of the night watch break the shimmering bubble of our dream. And so it is this, as well as the accomplishments of the year, that we want you to catch as the pages of this, the 1958 Coronal, unfurl. 2 Table of Contents Foreword 2 Dedication 4 Administration 5 Classes 15 Organizations 79 Activities • 105 Sports 114 Outstanding Cre wmen 150 Ads 152 Additional Seniors 171 Additional Sports 173 Campus Capers 177 Dedication As we graduate from high school and look back over the years we remember an under- standing, jolly and sympathetic man who was always willing to give his time and energy to help us with our problems. We had no idea of the hardships and work that lay ahead when we chose our theme and started work. Looking back over the year I recall a lot of funny things that happened, for instance Shelby fastening all the paper clips together, Joe Colloday and Karen Myers chasing the Agriculture class’ chickens, and John Casey ' s imitations. Seriously, I want to express my thanks to John and Beverly for handling the business so effi- ciently; to Karen for the nice art work and to Ravone, Marcia, Joe, and Shelby for their hard work writing copy, etc. I want to express a special thanks to Mr. Leo Pauly for all the encouragement and help he gave me through the year. Also thanks to Rudy Ramos and Mr. Beckner for the wonderful pic- tures, for without them the Coronal would be impossible. We have tried to make the 1957-58 Coronal a book everyone will enjoy and remember. If we have done this, we have reached our goal. Thanks again. Bobbi Armstrong Editor
