of dontznti c dmifiLshiatio n CL a±±E± Ozcjanization cCjativitLEi Sjjozts z fcL We, the Coronal Staff of 1955-56, hereby dedicate this book to Time — that intangible something which is always present, which has always, and will always be with us. Wher- ever anything lives, there is some- where, a register in which time is being inscribed. — although it brings many changes it leaves in- scribed in our memories all our days at C.H.S. Though in time the walls may crumble and fall, though stu- dents will come and go, our memory of C.H.S. will not fade. Its ivy- covered walls and all the things they stand for will be deeply encased in our memory as long as we live. It is to these times, to these memories, that we dedicate this book. Time teaches many lessons. The good times coming . ' 1 George M. Kibby, Superintendent of Schools. George Brokaw, Business Manager. Pictured below are members of the school board, left to right: Jess Lillibiidge, Mark Hendrickson, Homer Holton, and Evelyn McNutt. Corona High is extremely fortunate to have such an in- terested group of administrators. Through untiring and unselfish efforts, these three have given themselves wholeheartedly to the betterment of our school and our students. We, the student body, give our heart-felt thanks for service well done. Jbtudznt John Mory Fire Chief This past year we have witnessed a very active student government here on the campus of Corona High School. Student Council, with Hubert Knilans as adviser, got off to a flying start, first sponsoring the Halloween Dance, then planning the program for the Gene Norman Show and finally supervising the Homecoming Celebration. Led by Student Body President Ruben Felix and his capable and efficient staff, this governing body undertook the posting of the school sign in front of the school as well as establishing as an annual project the cleaning of the then- abandoned Pauper ' s Cemetery on Commercial Street. As the Council of 1955-56 makes its final bow, we only hope next year ' s leaders will carry on the traditions of Corona High School, upheld so successfully this past year. W. D. Modesty prevents us from telling what a won- derful job we did on this year ' s 1956 Coronal. We gave a football dance, put out the best Coronal, met our deadlines and went to the beach. We have suffered through some terrible spots, but have come out O.K. Maureen and Rudy have had a little trouble getting together to get pictures taken but finally finished. Judy Christian furnished the Senior activity slips. Charles and LaJoy, our great copy writers, came up with some original thoughts, Carolyn and Darlene took over the Art Department when Augie Tapia went into the service. The efforts of Judy and Bev have long been appreciated by all. Doug and Bill, our sports editors, did their jobs well; and the wonderful business manager came through with too many ads. But all in all, we think this year ' s Coronal is the greatest! Amen! We the Coronal Staff wish to congratulate the Class of ' 56. cJ fi - At the left Catherine Henson is seen talking over a very successful year for Hi-Tri with Mrs. Peterson, sponsor. Starting off the year they collected contributions for the flood relief. Sponsoring the annual Christmas Ball, making favors for the Naval Hospital, and pops ' ’ night were among their many activities. It’s finished, done, complete! We wondered if we’d ever get it done, but there it is: the last picture taken, the last copy corrected, and the last up-side-down period right-side up. Now comes the time to express my thanks to the members of the staff who helped make this book possible. Thanks isn ' t enough for the ones who worked above and beyond the call of duty. Especial thanks to our Photograph Editor, Maureen Watson, who was always on the go. To Jerry Schmidt, and her assistant, Sharon Ware, “thanks for rescuing us when Ralph left. Beverly Isgrig, Assistant Editor, was always ready and willing to help. The three boys on our annual staff, Bill Bennett, Doug Hardison, and Charles Burke supplied the sports news and also wrote copy. Darlene Embree and Carolyn Massey did double duty jobs as both artists and typists. Judy Christian, Frankie Lloyd, and La Joy Barkalow were the all-purpose girls. I would like to thank the Yearbook House of Monrovia, the S. K. Smith Co., and our photog- rapher, Rudy Ramos. Without them, there would be no ’56 CORONAL. My final word of gratitude goes to our advisor, Mr. Leo Pauly. His guidance, constructive criticism, and constant patience kept us from giving up long ago. Well, I gu ess that ' s all there is left to right” in the 1956 CORONAL. To all of you. Thanks again, Judy Sherman Editor-in-Chief Ofnolker TJ. 3. 3t creation PUBLISHERS OF YEAR BOOICS FOt.THE DISCRIMINATING 7 fearbcok 3fo use _ Monrovia California
