Corona del Sol students and staff agree that we have been the number one school for ten straight years in spirit, dedication, imagination, educational quality, and uniqueness. Corona del Sol is the youngest school in Tempe, yet after only ten years we have the largest student enrollment ever! When our school first opened in 1977 the student body consisted of only sophomores and freshmen and all together they made up for approximatly 540 students. Ten years later, in 1987, we have a student population of over 2,200 and Corona hosted the largest graduation ever, approximatly 500 exceptional Aztecs. Throughout the years Corona has been recognized for its fine educational qualities and outstanding programs. Last year, our school was ranked among the top eight in the state for academic excellence by the Arizona Department of Education and it's committee of scholastically qualified Arizona citizens.
