SECOND ROW: Marie Moody, ger, Lana Powell, Shellie Higgins, Mary Lawley, Kim Thompson, Pam Neumann, Jodi Henley, ger. This year's girls' varsity basketball team had a winning season with four returning starters. The team's top scorer was Linn Henley with an average of 20 points a game. Linn also led the team in assists with an aver- age of five a game. Top rebounder for the Aztecs was Shellie Higgins with an aver- age of nine rebounds a game. Kim Hoff- land led the team in steals, averaging six steals a game, while the team averaged 16 steals a game. According to Coach Larry Hughes, the team's biggest handicap was lack of height. The toughest team the girls played was Marana, who beat them twice. The team doesn't really have one out- standing player. lt's more of a group effort and that's one of the reasons the team is so effective, Hughes said. C 2 FIVE GIRLS' VARSITY BASKETBALL 81

I. V. basketball, golf progress with season The J.V. girls' basketball team had a very respectable season, according to coach Jim Armstrong. Their biggest handicaps were the lack of experience and height. The top scorer for the Aztecs was Tonya High. Boys' Golf, BOTTOM ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Kelly Roberts, David Billings, Scott Sypek. SECOND Matt Walker, Coach Larry Hughes, Pete Murphy. Shawn Logan, averaging 12 points a game. She was also top rebounder. Guard Debbie Aguirre was the main playmaker and ball handler for the team.
